Java Engineer
WeServeHomes.com is a pre-IPO start-up company backed by a major Silicon Valley Venture group and a Fortune 500 company. The Company was formed in January 2000 and is already poised to capture the Home Services market. Our Web site was launched in March 2000 on a regional basis and we look to be nationwide with our products and services by Spring 2001.
We are looking for a Java Engineer to assist in production and work in the overall design and development of a Web based system.
Responsibilities
E-commerce development with on-line transaction processing systems; Solid understanding of object-oriented design modeling and techniques (Rational
Rose or similar); Proficiency in Java Technologies, including JavaBeans, HTML/JSP/Servlets,
JDBC and debugging tools; Development experience with one or more of the following: MS SQL Server, Oracle, EJBs, UML, XML, SMTP, and web to legacy application integration; Knowledge of some or all: Jbuilder, Symantec Visual Cafe, Visual Age, JDK 1.2, SQL
Qualifications Required: (Work experience only please, academic experience cannot be substituted):
- B.S. in computer science, math or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of relevant programming work experience
- 1+ solid years of Java programming experience including:
EJB,
applet and
servlet experience
- A solid OO design & component architecture background
- 1 year Web site design/development experience
- An understanding of the software development life cycle
- Relational database development in at least one of MS SQL Server, Oracle or Sybase with preference for SQL Server
- Proficient in Web technologies including HTML, HTTP, TCP/IP
Key Non-technical skills should include: good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively on a team, complex problem solving, results orientation, professional work habits, and adaptability.
Bonus Experience:
- MS Windows NT Server 3.51 & 4.0
- MS Visual Basic
- MS IIS
- Web application development including Active Server Pages (ASP), Active-x, JavaScript/VBScript, and Frontpage
- Knowledge of CORBA, COM / DCOM, Unix
This is a full time position in Downers Grove, IL
Salary Range is based on experience, but ranges from $65,000-$100,000+
