Java Engineer
LOCATION: San Ramon, CA
SALARY: $90,000-$130,000 depending on level of experience
COMPANY: HeadCounsel is a privately funded company based in San Ramon. The founding team members are hot off the success of their first start-up, StockPower.com, which is now one of Upside�s �100 Hottest Private Companies in America.� HeadCounsel is targeting a summer launch of its service and is searching for founding engineering staff members eager to revolutionize critical business processes.
HeadCounsel will provide the legal community an online marketplace where unaffiliated attorneys can form flexible project teams, share resources and dramatically simplify workflow to improve the delivery of legal services. The Director of Sales will create a sales staff responsible for opening new markets, recruiting attorneys, eliciting project postings and enabling the formation of flexible project teams within HeadCounsel. This position allows the opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding company.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the lead core engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of core components, Java classes, database interface modules and other core elements of the system.
This is a �hands-on� position. Candidate will initially develop Java classes that form the backbone of the interactive HeadCounsel product. Candidate will produce schedules, evaluate web development technologies, and champion modular object oriented design techniques in the design of the system. Candidate will also interface with other lead engineers such as the lead GUI engineer in order to develop a comprehensive and complete system.
QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate must have the following attributes:
�Solid knowledge of server side Java software development in a web environment.
�Strong communication and documentation skills.
�Understanding of object oriented software development life cycles.
�More than 3 years industry experience.
�Knowledge of general web programming
�Unix, Java and Javascript
�Experience developing high performance Java servers
�Database (SQL) application experience
�Web debugging tools such as Optimize-It
�Knowledge / experience with network programming
