Please see our Book Giveaway Page, simply posting to this message does not enter you in the drawing for the books. You have to post a topic or answer a question that has something to do with OO, Patterns and Refactoring.

I would very much like a copy of this book. Another good resource is Bruce Eckel's "Thinking in Patterns" for Java

It definitely sounds like a very interesting book. Just wondering, though - I have not seen any postings from Linda yet...

Hi Mirko,
I posted an early note last week :-)! and I'm here to talk about patterns. I especially like questions and comments that will help me make the Alamanac better! Tell me how I should organize the patterns and what information I can give you to help you make better use of the patterns that are out there.
Thanks!
Linda

Thanks for the welcome, Carl! I'm happy to be a part of the JavaRanch book give away. The Almanac is an example of "eXtreme" publishing :-)! The first iteration is out there and future increments will build on it with help from you, the customers! I especially want "suggestions for improvement" -- the real use of patterns is realatively new in our industry. Anything that we can do to help people do their jobs better is good and I believe that patterns will do that. Please understand that patterns will not solve the Software Crisis :-)! They are just a way of capturing good ideas and sharing them.
Thanks again for allowing me to talk about the book!

I'm living in Denmark this year so my time on the computer is probably a little different from the rest of the world :-)! But I'm happy to be here, Mirko! Thanks!
