I took the exam at Vienna at the WebSphere 2001 conference (first cert exam was offered for free). In the pre-assessment exam I was scoring circa 85%, so based on what Caroline also said one can expect to score at the real exam perhaps -5% than one does in the pre-assesement. Static modelling and dynamic modelling I did the best (90+), requirements analysis was my weakest (65% or something).
There are a couple of examples/use cases running through the whole exam with various questions referring to them.
I've also passed the VAJava exam (78%, pass is 60%). Actually I had't stydying no even a single hour for that. I've been programming with VAJ for one yr though. I took the preassement and took 80% so I though: "What the heck... Why not give a shot to the real exam...". So, now I can proudly refer to myself as a "IBM Certified VAJ Solution Expert" (just kidding... fancy title).
Thanks everybody in this forum for their help and fruitful discussions we had, especially Desai and Caroline.
Cheers everyone!
Panagiotis.

Panagiotis,
Great going!Keep it up
Looks like IBM has retired many of their tests. The "Enterprise Developer" title for Visual Age for Java is no longer there. Now you can become an IBM Enterprise Developer only by taking their WAS test.
Also, I could not see the title of "IBM Certified VAJ Solution Expert" that you earned.Did you take the test(s) before it had retired? If I am correct, this title was one level higher than Level 3 (Enterprise Level) of Jcert.I am glad to know someone aspiring to go above Level 3 of Jcert.I am sure there would not be many with you on that list.
I have cleared Jcert Level 3 from Oracle.Am planning to shift to IBM Jcert track after I am through with Test 486 and have attained the Oracle Jcert title.Would need to take 2 more tests for IBM Jcert title. Most likely it is going to be WAS at both levels - Solution and Enterprise.I am looking to earn these titles by the end of this year
Do hang around in this forum. It was a valuable brainstorming exercise for me to answer your questions. It is nice to be a part of a reciprocative group like this.I am sure it is going to help me a lot when I take Test 486.
Cheers,
Sandeep

Well, Desai, you are right; it is "Solution Developer" not "Solutions Expert" -- my mistake.
This is Level 3 JCert. I believe Level 4 is "Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE" and Level 5 requirement can be satisfied by the WAS AE exam. But pls correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck with you exam! I'm confident that you will score 80+.
Cheers,
Panagiotis.

Panagiotis,
The "Vendor" Jcert track goes like this:

  1. Level I - Sun Certified Java Programmer

    • Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2(TM) Platform
    • Level II - "Vendor" Certified Solution Developer

      • Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML
      • "Vendor" dependent test. For instance, from IBM it is either IBM Visual Age for Java Version 3.0 - Professional Edition or IBM Websphere Application Server Version 3.5 - Standard Edition.I have taken test from Oracle - Oracle JDeveloper Release 3.0 - Develop Database Applications with Java
      • Level III - "Vendor" Certified Enterprise Developer

        • Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE.
        • "Vendor" dependent test. For instance, from IBM it is IBM Websphere Application Server Version 3.5 - Advanced Edition.I have taken test from Oracle - Enterprise Development on the Oracle Internet Platform

        • where "Vendor" stands for IBM,BEA,Oracle,Netscape-Sun alliance and HP (For more information refer to Jcert Initiative)
The retired IBM tests, which I was referring to was IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - IBM VisualAge for Java,Enterprise Edition,V2.They have not come out with a similar test for their V2+ versions to date. The same is true with their IBM Websphere Application Server product also. The requirement for these tests, was completion of Jcert Level 3 (or Level 2, am not sure!).Glad to know that IBM has done away with these tests and hope we donot see them again!
          - Sandeep

          • Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform Scored 93 per cent
          • Oracle JDeveloper Rel. 3.0 - Develop Database Applications with Java Scored 56 out of 59
          • IBM Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE Scored 72 per cent
          • Enterprise Development on the Oracle Internet Platform Scored 44 out of 56

Hi Panagiotis,
I just happened to find that they have IBM Certified for e-business Certifications which requires you to pass Level 2 of Jcert:
This is the list for your reference.
