Well, I think I can safely say that the questions originally posted were not from the IBM 486 exam. I took the
test this afternoon and missed 8 questions for a score of 85%.
Had lots of time extra (about 30 minutes) but by 2:30pm I was really hungry having had only a cheeseburger and some fries before going in for the test and my stomach was a little upset so I just clicked on the end button so I could get out of there without embarrassing myself.
I followed my usual strategy of leaving the questions with exhibits for later so I could answer the easier questions up front and pool the extra time.
The exhibits were ridiculously large and IMO just got in the way of the question in many cases. Many questions shared the same exhibits, too.
A good understanding of the material in "UML Distilled" is definitely required to pass this exam. You still need to have a good understanding of basic OO design principles and Craig Larman's "Applying
Patterns and UML" might still be useful for understanding the general concepts and techniques of OOAD but it doesn't seem to me a very relevant resource for specifics of the exam.
Some of the questions were somewhat in the same lines as the ICE test so it would be a good way to review and get a feel for what the "right" answers should be.
Overall, not a very difficult test if you have some experience in OOAD and iterative/incremental development and have read "UML Distilled" once or twice.
