Hello All!
I know everybody currently participating is eager to raise their chances of winning what appears to be a very good book. It's nice to have things pick up here once in a while and actually have some interesting discussions going. It's certainly a great compliment to Bruce Tate to have so many folks eager to get a copy of his book
My only request is that you all please keep posts on-topic for this forum. All posts that are off-topic will be closed and moved as soon as I see them. Closed threads will be deleted on Thursday so any posts in them will not be eligible for the drawing.
Thanks for your cooperation and good luck!

Even though the worst is almost over, I have one additional request to everybody. Please use the search facility (also accessible via the small link on the upper right hand of the page) before posting your question in order to avoid starting a duplicate/parallel thread. This will make it a lot easier for everybody to follow the discussions and keep them more focused.
And while I appreciate that everybody is interested in getting a copy of this book, please try to ask sensible questions and not post just for the sake of improving your chances of winning.
I would like to thank Bruce Tate in advance for fielding all these questions this week and giving us his insights.
Bruce, I hope that you will visit us again here from time to time. I'm sure that there will be folks who will read your book later (I for one will) and have questions about the things discussed in it. It's always nice to have the author himself answer the question
Thanks everybody!

Oh, good try Junilu, but don't think for a second that these "administrative" posts will help increase your odds at winning a copy of the book. (Whereas this post, clearly has meaningful and relevant content)
:-p

Is is better that one searches the forum before posting.
It means 3 things:
1.One saves time by not posting.
2.Javaranch server needs to store less posts, which will decrease response time.(Java ranch has less response time but we can make it better)
3.The most important point. The previous post for the same topic may have had better answers/responses than the one u might get by posting.
Good Luck to this week's winners!

That transparent, huh?
I didn't win the book but at least Corey did Now I have to ask my wife to get me one for Father's day
Mark, would you be up to reading "Agile Software Development" and sharing your thoughts on it? Like I said in MO, I gave it a 10 but I have a bias for things Agile and you seem to have a more objective (skeptical?) view of it. You also seem to have a voracious appetite for these kind of books and since you liked "Peopleware" I'm thinking this book would get you thinking. I could send you a copy if you like.
Regards,
Junilu

You have made me an officer I can't refuse! I've seen it in the store and have been tempted to get a copy. Right now I'm reading "Understanding The Professional Programmer," which was suggested to me by Map. :-) I also have three outstanding book reviews, but I'm not going to told my breath waiting for them. I am going to be on vacation from June 12th though the end of June. But I would love to check it out come July. Still, I must warn you, I was never a big fan of XP, which seems to be a close relative of the agile movement, if not part of it outright.
(I saw it even before you tried to catch my attention--I just didn't wake up before noon today :-)

Which is exactly why I'd like to get your opinions! Alistair isn't really an XPer (he "admires it from afar"). He has a slightly more palatable approach to agility, IMO. I'd really like to know what you think of the philosophical underpinnings of the book though.
Please PM me the address to send the book to.

These last few posts belong in either Process: UP, RUP, DRUP, XP, etc. or Moderators Only. Please delete your posts or move them to the appropriate forum "as soon as you see this", and in the future use the little 'email' or 'private message' buttons. Oh, and delete this post of mine, too, since it's also off-topic!!!

Sorry Gerry,
All the books have been given out. Or haven't you noticed that you're the only one in the bar giving me a hard time about this now?
Now leave me alone and let me get over not winning the book in peace...
