Hi
By the Grace of Allah I have passed IBM's UML exam. This site is an excellent resource for preparing the IBM exam. Thanks to all of u.
Now my next target is Enterprise Connectivity.
Some suggestion for u.
In first iteration I have attempt the all the questions without Exibit.
And solve approximately 30 questions in 15 minutes.Because these questions are very short and maximam questions are about which diagram is BEST for the condition.
Like for GUI understading state diagram
for cocurrent process
a) activity diagram
b) state diagram
c) interaction diagram
and so on
And other questions are from the case study of STUDENT REGISTRATION SYSTEM.
1) Identify correct use cases from requirement
2) Identify correct business rules
3) Identify correct Interaction diagram for the use case
4) Which classes should be singleton
5) How to assign team responsibilities
6) Identify correct Sequence diagram accoding to class diagram
7) How to assign correct requirement in the class diagram
8) One question on activity diagram
9) One question on state diagram
10) Asking the parts name of the diagrams like for interaction diagram (message, condition, iteration, self call, return)
11) Same for state diagram
And some other case studies.
I also got approximately the same question in the test as I have posted in my previous thread that "Which One is LEAST NECESSARY to documet for the class".
Thanks for all of u.
See u in EJB/J2EE.

Hi,
Congratulations Arain . Wonderfull score. Ur speed is just like a night rider...30 attempted in 15 mins!! U have planned a good strategy. Well, I have seen some pplz saying that, they have attempted the questions related to domain (like University Registration System) in last. And all other no-domain related questions first. Which strategy is best? ur's or this one?
It's ur good luck that u get the similar question of Leasr neccessary to document..which one u have selected ? workflow or description? because I remember there was a dispute between these two and we have not finalized the correct answer.
What was ur resources for exam preparation? Did u used Whizlab's simulator.
Bye,
Viki.

Viki I have the same strategy too as u have mentioned that In First iteration I have attemped all non domain related questions. And then started to solve the domain related questions.
Questions which are not related to specific case study are very small.
That's why I have solved them very quickly.
I have selected "workflow" Viki for that question.

Congratulations Arain.
I have a little question for anyone on this forum. I'm going thru Martin Fowler's UML Distilled (first go) and not being able to understand some of the concepts like Dynamic classification thoroughly. I'm a total newbie to UML and all the vocabulary and concepts are going over my head. I have some decent idea of design patterns though.
My question is, "can i go ahead and start reading Larman (UML and patterns) and refer back to UML Distilled on a need basis, or, i should be having all the concepts crystall clear(if so, i'll revisit the book) before taking on Larman's book".
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Please post questions here.
This would be a great help for people like me who allways think that anything is clear while reading and realize that it isn't when seing myself confronted with questions.

I see no problem. UML distilled is a "very dense" book. Larman book has a lot of pages, but its easier to understand.

Dear Jayadev
I think UML is only best for UML diagrams but not for RUP or for a complete development process.
For complete development process with design pattern read Larman second edition.

Basha
I have read Larman second edition book one times and fowler's book two times.
After reading both the books I have solved all the questions of ICE, bala, whiz@ooad trial.
I have print all questions of ICE.And analyze all questions answers. Then check Don's 100% correct answers for verfication.
This analysis helped me a lot b/c previous certified posted so many times that ICE's questions understanding is must necessary.
My advise is to u.
1) Which diagram(s) is/are BEST type questions are easy Fowler reading is enough for deep understanding of state, activity, use case, and so on.Because I got 3-4 questions on state and activity diagram just asking the names of different part of the diagrams.
2) And must understand that how to assign the team resposibilities among different people must necessary.
3) Some MOST important design patterns are
state, strategy, publish/subscriber or event delegation model and singleton
4) Which diagram is necessary for given requirement's questions can also be solved by design pattern in larman book.
5) Must understand which diagram is used for what.
6) Why and how we use use case.
1) use to drive the design
2) for project time estimation
3) for different iteration in development
4) to show the user's requirements
7) How to add/assign new responsibility in CLASS DIAGRAM.
8) Which intraction diagram map the class diagram.Means in question they will give a Class diagram and 4-5 sequence diagram and asking which diagram is BEST for given Class diagram.
In this case u have to check the methods in Class diagram and in sequence diagram for correct answer.
ONE question of this type is also in whiz@OOAD.
9) Check the following website for design pattern.
http://www.agcs.com/supportv2/techpapers/patterns/papers/tutnotes/index.htm
you can find GOF BOOK PATTERN's implemention on pattern_study or I think study_pattern group on yahoo.Because in GOF they have implement the methods in C++.
If you need any furthor asistent tell me.
