Our client is an Internet incubator/ venture capital
firm with equity stakes in several diverse high
technology companies. They currently have an
immediate need for a programmer who will become a
member of a growing team responsible for designing,
implementing and maintaining java software. The
current back-end software is implemented in Java with
a n-tier model (RMI) design. The client-side is
oriented toward Internet access and is developed using
HTML and JSP technology. A job description follows.
Position Title: Java Programmer
Work Location: SW Suburbs of Philadelphia, Near Chadds
Ford, PA
This position will report to:
Lead Programmer
Day to Day responsibilities:
Develop and implement Java classes for server side
(middle tier) applications.
Projects involved with:
1. Create spiders that gather and index information
from the Web.
2. Expand capabilities of a web site monitoring
service that is a key part of the business model.
Role with the group (tech. lead, individual
contributor, etc.):
Individual Contributor
Work environment (cube, office, bull pen):
Open office, no cubicles
Size of department: 6
Required Skills:
JAVA, RMI and JDBC
OOA/OOD
Desired Skills:
Experience with Oracle.
Knowledge of TCP/IP sockets and protocol
implementation.
Knowledge of UML preferred.
Experience with Servlets, XML, JSP, Swing, JSP Tag
Extension a big plus.
Knowledge of Perl and C++ helpful.

"Soft" Skills:
As long as candidates have solid technical skills,
there aren't a lot of "soft" skills needed for this
position. For instance, you don't have to be good at
public speaking, etc. Just a good programmer.

beyond the scope of this job specification.
