Job Description:
Our client is an Internet incubator/ venture capital
firm with equity stakes in several diverse high
technology companies. They currently have a
requirement for a senior level programmer/ design
analyst who will be part of a growing team responsible
to develop and maintain the client's search engine WEB
site. The individual in this position will be
responsible for the implementation of the client side
and server side as well as providing direction to more
junior level developers. A job description follows:
Position Title: Lead Programmer and Design Analyst
Work Location: Near Chadds Ford PA (North of
Wilmington DE)
This position will report to: Chief Technology
Day to Day responsibilities:
Defining clear project objectives and deliverables
Creating schedules and work assignments using
scheduling software
Revising schedules to meet changed requirements
Programming current projects as required

Projects involved with:
1. Search engine development.
2. Development of Web site monitoring product
3. Conversion of source code from MS based ASP and VB
Script to Java.
Role with the group (tech. lead, individual
contributor, etc.):
Technical Lead
Work environment (cube, office, bull pen): Open
office, no cubes
Size of department: 6 and growing
Required Skills:
Extensive experience with Java and OOA/OOD (Object
Oriented Analysis and Design) is required.
Knowledge and experience of JAVA, RMI and JDBC
Experience with a n-tier model (RMI) design.
Experience with Oracle a plus.
Knowledge of TCP/IP sockets and protocol
implementation a plus.
Knowledge of UML preferred.
Experience with Servlets, XML, JSP, Swing, JSP Tag
Extension a big plus.
Knowledge of Perl and C++ helpful.
"Soft" Skills:
Formal project management experience
Ability to communicate effectively with upper
management and take responsibility for deadlines,
functionality, and revenue generation.

unique business model the description of which is
beyond the scope of this job specification. However,
some of the really nice things about this job are the

What is the interview process?
Usually a 2 step process. First interview with the
CTO and other key personnel, then interviews with COO
and possibly the CEO.
References (at least 4) are checked and background
check is required.
