The number one book at the top of my list would be:

Applying UML and Patterns : An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Iterative Development (3rd Edition)
by Craig Larman

Next up would be:
The Unified Modeling Language User Guide by Booch, Rumbaugh, and Jacobson

Those are my suggestions, there are others

If you speak German than please look at: http://www.jeckle.de/vorlesung/uml/index.html
It was unfinished outstanding work from Mr Jeckle.

The Diagrams of UML 2.0 is likely a good start.

Borland also has a rather nice introduction: http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,31863,00.html

Remember that UML is a tool. Learning UML doesn't teach you design.
It's like learning to use a hammer, it doesn't make you a carpenter.
