Want to use a update statement as follows:

String updateString="Update from table1 set coloum1= "+
" ,coloum1= "+"\""+"Mr"+"\""+
" ,coloum2= "+"\""+"Dressup "+"\""+
" ,coloum3="+"\""+"TickleTrunk"+"\""+
"where primaryKey=list.get(count)";

Basically the problem is the "" inside a string. with the \" it seems to compile but I get SQL Exceptions because of the 'updateString'. What is the proper way to do this? I also know you can cycle the resultSet and use it as a parameter that way but i dont want to cause my strings are built from reading files not from already processed resultSets.

thanks

Orgionally I had a Microsoft Access Database and can connect using JDBC via the Connection object. I wanted to be able to have MS Access usable from anywhere in the world though via my cleint software. Sounds like MYSQL is more secure for this job so that is fine. I have a cable modem now at home and I want various 'players' to be able to use my client software to query and make sql updates from anywhere in the world with jdbc via my client software.

hope this helps more.\

Currently I am running Microsoft Access database and JDBC connects to it on my local network. I want to devolop JDBC client software that will make queries and updates via the internet however I am having problems making the database visible on the net. What are my options in doing this and should i change to MYSQL? I plan to have less than 100,000 rows on the database and queries will roughly produce 1000 resultset rows. Updates will be roughly the same or maybe i can cut it down to 500 or so if i need to.
Like i say again is my options putting the database on a FTP server or can users use it from my home computer or what is best?

I am making a game that runs in a JFrame. Cars consisting of Rectangle2D.Double's are produced in the paint() method. I have want to have tooltip type and clickable rectangles which work but...
1. Tooltips work in there origional constructed state(orgionalX,origionalY)
2. After usuing the g2.rotate method and changing its rotation the listener only has the Field of the origional location not the change from g2.rotate
3. Graphics2D does not have any methods such as getnewX,getnewY.

What should I do??

Wanted to make a car class. Various different cars so it extends vehicle. I want a JFrame and a JPanel or JComponent in the center of it.

I think i need to extend JCoponent on vehicle so it has tooltips
public class Vehicle extends JComponent{}

but when i override JPanel and create vehicle objects by overriding paintComponent(Graphics){} it does display tooltips when viewing the JFrame that the JPanel is added to.

i think the add() method is only way to use tooltips not paint methods but...
How can i make a Shape object with tooltips than???

ok i want to have a JPanel overriding paintComponent added to a JFrame...

Basically i want a 'Shape' with tooltips. But it doesnt seem to have tooltips.
I tried to have a oject that overrides JCOmpoonent and override the paintComponent(Graphics g) method and place that into the JPanel somewhere and than add it to the JFrame. The object appears but does not have tooltips

So your saying you can't have a rectangle or shape and have it displayed in a JPanel that has tooltips?
JPanel added to JFrame

Or do we have to make our own tooltips.
I was hoping just to extend JComponent for the shape and override paintComponent(Graphics g)

thanks roba

Still not working out. I read the tutorial and tried 1000 diffent combinations of the package statement and still have no luck. Is it something with the classpath??

I have a application and i want to make it a clickable .jar file.
I assume all the classes related to the application object will be in the .jar file.

Now my path to the .java file is this
c:\\java\\PhantomYard\src\main.java

so the 1st line in my code is this
package PhantomYard;

Now I am using NetBeans software.
I can grab the software out of the \dist folder and use it there or move it to another drive location and use it fine. I have sent it to someone expericenced with java and he can use it. 3 others that are less expericenced with java say when they try it it gives them a error that it can't find the Main-Class.

Thanks in advance

Ya but calling it from the main method is causing problems.

This line is in the main method (static)
These class's are not static

NewCarEquipment nCarEquip=robReader(bf2);
