I've a request that when user hit a url ("https://host:port/IDSearch.html"), first we need to search another file in that location (Where IDSearch.html) is available. If that file is available we need to load that file instead of IDSearch.html. how can we do that? Can we do this in javascript code in IDSearch.html? please advice.
Or any alternate way to check the file and load?
we have web application which calls database call to retrieve thousands of records, it causing the server crashes due to timeout (its reasonable as per requirement) after 2 to 3 mins abruptly the server crashes and shows server crash report (which may confuse the user). hence, I want to wrap that method invocation with timer set (for 30 secs) code, wait until reaches that time and send a meaning error message to the client.

I tried with Thread class but the method .stop() is deprecated so what is the other way to do ?
Hi,

We have developed a web tool (JSP, Servlets) with LDAP (SUN One) back end to read and update the LDAP attributes. We have used the following simple JNDI API to connect to SUNOne LDAP server and I think we also generated java keystore and stored in lib/security (I'm not sure we ranit or not, since it was long ago)

Now our env. switching to OPENLdap. In order to switching to another LDAP directory, what things do I've to do from my end? The API works as well for OpenLDAP also? Do we have to generate the keystore as well on OpenLDAP? Please suggest me.

We found it, because of above kind of text the remaining page truncated. But how do we handle that String? How to show the String as it is?

Thanks Bear for your reply,

I just put the print statements in the JSP where extactly failing to see what data it is, I found some wiered characters in the data in the next field (not in current field) (textarea), the text seems like

I am away from the office

. Is this affecting our JSP? how do we convert this in normal String?

Actually HTML is truncated, its not complete one.

I've checked the logs, no errors logged.

Hi,

We've been using a java web (JSPs, and Servlets only) tool which runs in jboss 5, so far so good everything went well but for a particular user the JSP page is showing half only rest is not displaying. For other users data everything is showing as we expected. I've no clue why the page is showing half, I went into our application logs but no errors reported. Is there a way to triage this issue in prod box? please advice as soonest.

Hi Eric, thanks for replying.

thats good idea and its working very easy what we are expecting, but need to implement more handy, like from left side table if we need to compare a value from the right side table, we need to scroll right one to place exact location. the problem is if that value is in the last position we can't match side by side. Is there any javascript/or any idea/clue/code which will include empty when scrolling more even we reached dead of the table?
We have a returned page with two tables, each table one dictionary returned from database with bunch of values (may or may not) and we are displaying these tables side by side. Our requirement needs to compare values side by side (by scrolling one frame) but values returned in each in different order, in order to compare, we must use HTML frameset.
In general the frameset works with htm src

In our code we returning dictionaries dynamically, but frame tag is expecting src as htm page. How do we manage to show the data in frames?
We are using JSP pages to show the HTML form and access them in the Servlet code. This form needs to add input type text and when you click the submit this form field needs to access (request.getParameter("dynfld");) from Servlet but it doesn't get the value. And I checked the View Source of that page, then I figured out that dynamic field didn't appear on the page. I think that's why it didn't access in Servlet.

Here is the Code I used:

HTML (JSP) Page:

In javascript:

Can anybody give me the clue that needs to access the dynamic form fields in Servlet code.
Excellent ..Blaidd Gwael.. works. Thanks
Thanks Blaidd and Bear for replying.. Blaidd given solution would perfectly gave me the solution.

I got another question on the same thing that if the page displays 100s of rows and when we click on the link the id goes to textarea but the location is not moving to the textarea in the same page where we clicked, I need to move location to textarea. In order to do this the same there must be a javascript clue, can you please give me the solution.

Thanks, I really appreciate..
Here is a scenario, the page displays a table of values comes from database(ID, First Name, Last Name, Telephone), here ID column displays with links and if we click on the link the corresponding ID value should goes to a textbox on the same page. I know the javascript can do this but I've no idea how to make, could someone help me on this?
Hi, so far we drive LDAP attributes from LDAP to a JSP and displaying with attribute values (driving dynamically from property files ). Now we got to show some attributes as header (fixed), and some vary depending unpon the page request. Now I want to fix the header with those fixed attributes and remaining attributes will be in another page, so that we can add them together. What is the way to add JSPs? or suggest me another way to maintain those fixed attributes to be displayed for every page.

Thank you Peter for replying..

Unfortunately I can't do your first approach since our working environment is in Solaris and also I've no access to stop or start or debug the jboss server and code. but I can do debug as Java application (stand alone code) from eclipse.

I can tell you the API what we are using to authenticate. here is the API

this same API we are calling from stand alone and as well in web app deployed in jboss.
When I run the code we get context with object, and getting process with stand alone. We used "java.naming" package for LDAP.
