And thanks for the figures, because if I had choice between a Maruti at 5L and a Honda at 7L, I dont think Maruti stands a chance; for the reasons we all know!

Why you feel so? Swift is B+ segment car whereas as 7L Honda city is C segment car. Comparison is probably not fair.

At 5L you will probably get the highend model of Swift (Zxi) whereas at 7L you would be getting the low(est)-end model of Honda.

Moreover, mileage difference would surely be there with Swift having an upper end. Maintainence cost for any Maruti product would surely be low and resale value would also be better.
[Obviously, if you can afford Honda you shouldn't be thinking much about these points]

Just curious to know your total experience and how many companies have you worked for till now. Another interesting data here would be the longest duration you had in single company.
If you share your country that would be great too

Here's my data

Total Experience : 5.5 yrs
Companies worked for (including current) : 4
Maximum time spent in any company : 2.2 yrs
Country : India

Looking forward to your participation

I personlly prefer to continue in technical stream only. Mainly because:
i) Technical work fascinates me
ii) The more experience I gain, the lesser competition I see, esp. in India where every second guy is aiming to become a manager.

But again, as I mentioned earlier, whether there would be any future for such role forces me to think differenty.

Thanks guys.

My main confusion is, unlike US, is there any growth in technical stream in India. I would love to pursue technically, but will there be any returns? Majority of employees move to managerial stream right after 2-3 yrs. in IT or start aiming for it.

If I continue technically for say 3 more years, i.e. total 8 yrs of technical experience, what should I expect out of that experience? i.e. what kind of role would Indian IT companies be offering (considering the fact that Indian IT does majority of low level work) ?
Will there be fewer choices/ vacancies for me?

Hi Guys,

I have 5+ years of work experience and have been lucky so far to work in good companies with good technologies project with good onsite opportunities. I have to make a change now due to some personal reasons and I am stucked with two offers

i) Infosys
They have specified the project, it's for a finance giant. They are offering me Tech. Lead role with Programmer Analyst designation.
Responsibilities includes 80% technical role + 20% managerial role. I will get a team of size 5-6 or so to lead / mentor.
Salary offered is 7.1 lakhs (with some variable component).
Onsite would be there sooner or later which is abvious since Infy is famous for that.

ii) Veritas
It's a product related work. It's mainly technical role. It's a flat organization so role/designation doesn't play much role there. I won't get a team here.
Technical work includes Java / C++ technologies.
Salary offered is 8.7 lakhs with no variable copmonent.
Onsite would hardly be there ever.

What shall I go for? I have worked technically a lot till now so just confused whether I shall continue working technically "only" or shall I move to bigger players and learn some managerial jargons too?

I don't know my priorities. Only thing I know is I have loved and performed well in technology side till now. Shall I continue there? or shall I get out of that developer line and learn some managerial things too? Confused

Please help folks.

Awaiting your replies

You started this thread for "JSF jobs" in JSF forum.

On the same lines, shouldn't this topic be moved to Swing forum?

Person will get better response there in my opinion.

does this proves

cricket is a team game? and World XI never looked like a team.
or
world XI wasn't the best of eleven players in world minus Australia
or
W XI players were too complacent ?
or
Australia was just unbeatable?

I think it's the last option. But first three seems to be the cases too.
Probably ICC should have fielded current England Team

If Brand name / Reputation / Relaxed life / ample of onsite opportunities matters to you go for TCS, but if you prefer challenging work / fast vertical growth / more responsibitlies don't go for TCS.

Think over your priorities and decide. No company is good or bad, important thing is to see if it can fulfill your career priorities.

And I totally agree with you here

However, I have read few post from ME and he indeed is a nice chap, and I took those comments in lighter vein or infact those comments looked a bit cute to me

But for a new guy in site, not knowing people out here, reading those comment from a moderator "might" upset him.

All of the moderators are humans and bound to have some emotions, so just chill out don't take meaningless stuff so seriously !!!

Duh !
