I read that page actually, but I am just wondering if the SSL connection can be authenticated via code instead of using keystore?

Hi all,

I am a Java/J2EE developer for 2 years now. I have worked in Unisys as a software consultant and now working as an in house developer in a distribution company.

I am a bit confused with my career situation. My friend has recently found a job as sa Java developer in investment banking. She said that it is very good pay and they use new technologies. As I am getting very bored with the in house development in the distribution company. Would I be better off joining the investment banking section which seems to be a lot more dynamic?

What are the catches of joining companies like UBS, Citigroup?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi all,

I have passed my 1.5 programmer exam and would like to take the web component exam next. However, I found that it is only for J2EE 1.4. Is there any exam coming up for the 1.5 stuff?

Also which book would you recommend to read for the exam.

Many thx

Hi all,

I have configured my web app to use DatabaseServerLoginModule, it works fine so far, but I also need to make sure that after 3 failed attempts, the user will be set to password locked state.

I am currently using a form with j_security_check action and j_username and j_password. On sucessful login, i can access the principals, but I also want to get the username from the form when the user failed the login... I tried request.getParameter("j_username" in the error page but with no luck...

Could anyone tell me how to get the username so that I can update the user status in the database, many thx

Hi all,

public class Something implements Runnable
{
public void run()
{
for(int i = 0 ; i < 10; i++)
{
System.out.println(i);
}
}
}

public class Test
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
Something s = new Something();
Thread t = new Thread(s);
Thread t2 = new Thread(s);
Thread t3 = new Thread(s);
t.start();
t2.start();
t3.start();
}
}

What would be the result? I don't understand how three threads share to run the method....

Any help would be appreciated.

Could I just ask one more question, how do I retain the properties and beans on the the errored form when an error is thrown?

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what object is the html:error tag looking at please? I am new to struts, I know that the validate() method in actionform would throws errors and the jsp will populate the original data with a list of errors displayed on the top of the page...

But how can I add my own exception to that error list please? Is it possible? Do I need to populate the form myself? or is there a way which I can throw exceptions/errors to the jsp page just like how validate() method does it??

Many thx

would it cause error when

public class A()
{
static{int x = 4;}

static int x, y;
}

if not, why?

Is outer.new Inner().f(); a valid call? I thought I have to do Outer.Inner inner = new Outer.Inner(); ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My understand is that, if and only if a file object calls f.createNewFile() would create a physical file on the harddrive...

Can I make this assumption in the exam?
But I am taking the 1.5 exam, does it include File? if so, what's the answer to my question? many thx

Kev
Hi all,

I have seen questions about file I/O questions and some book suggests that whenever you see those kind of questions, you need to make sure that there is a f.createNewFile(), otherwise, no file will be output.

but in most of the mock exam questions, they somehow assume a file is always created... how should I determine when the file would be created?

Many thx
