Hello,

I am trying to do some research on SOA governance and would be grateful if anyone could name me a few examples of the main registries/repositories which can be used in conjunction with SOAs.

I have found considerable material on ebXML and projects such as the WSO2 Registry.
What other widely used ones do we have out there ?

cheers

PS: is UDDI still generally being used as a registry today?...i think i read somewhere that due to the lack of features such as semantic extensibility (or extensibility in general ?) UDDI has lost out almost completely to ebXML...how true is this ? how seriously is UDDI still being considered by industry experts ?

thanks!

thanks alot for your reply Nishant,...

but, most times i read about SWS, i noticed it is mentioned in conjunction with OWL-S.... (this seems to be the defacto standard for implementing semantic concepts in SWS)...

Maybe my question should have been phrased something like this:

is a web service that is implemented using SAWSDL instead of OWL-S not also a SWS ?

thanks

Can someone please briefly point out the fundamental difference between these two concepts....

is there a difference?

is SAWSDL a subset of SWS ?

thank you

and acting the smarty pants "java-guru" without constructive suggestions wont help anyone either....people who are ready to help usually do so without beating about the bush or getting arrogant.

@jasper young:

thanks for the suggestion....i actually found a way to create this effect in swing thanks to the reference you made regarding "filthy rich clients"...(there are alot of web tutorials and bloggs with suggestions on how to go about this)...

best regards

Hi,

do i need to create a .war file for a simple servlet which is to receive querries, handle them and then return xml data back to the client side application (flex/action script)?

i am not displaying anything, all i want is for the data to be received - serverside, processed, and sent back to the client....to the best of my understanding i wouldnt need a .jsp page for this, right ?

so what -for example- comes into my .war file if i want to implement my servlet ?

best regards
