Hi Ben, I've updated my initial post to clarify what I'm trying to do.

EDIT: Found the answer here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Java/Q_20143027.html

I have a bean and want to access it from within a Servlet. How can it be done?

For the JSP, I would probably do "<jsp:useBean id="handler" class="servlet.FormHandler" scope="session"/> ". But how would I access the "FormHandler" bean from within a Servlet?

FormHandler myBean = .... //Get it from HttpServletRequest somehow
myBean.setSomeProperty(value);
getServletConfig().getServletContext().setAttribute("handler", myBean);

Is this correct? Will the JSP be able to see the results after the Servlet updates the bean? I am looking for a <jsp:setProperty../> which can be used within a Servlet as opposed to a JSP.

EDIT: Clarification

Thanks for your reply.

What type of cameras can be attached to a DVR card?

I want to buy some webcams and put them around the home as a form of security. I then want to access moving images from a web browser anywhere in the world. What is the cheapest and most effective way to do it? Like most, I have a broadband internet connection which is on 24/7, and since I will be going on holiday, it would be nice to login to checkup on my house.

My current setup: I have a router connected to an 8-port network switch. I would like to either buy some webcams which plug directly into the ethernet port on the switch, or use a cheap Pentium box and connect several webcams to it, and then connect the machine to my home network.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, but it asks for a country before continuing, and Pakistan is not listed.

No point really, 99.99% of the posts are from Indians.

If anyone has talent and they really expose it very well then they definelty get paid very good.

H1B pay is lower than what a native with the same experience and education would get. Why? The pay is good if you're from a non-industrialized country which pays lower wages. I'm talking about Dollars and Euros, not Rupees.

Have you ever heard of "ethics"?

When your employer apply for your H1B petition they have to prove that they don't find anyone here in USA with the skillset they require and you have it. In which case, more experiance and certifications will definetly help.

They should have to prove that they cannot find cheap candidates who will accept sub-standard pay. Skills has nothing to do with it. What skills do Indians have which Americans - the richest country in the world which probably invented the "skill" in the first place, do not? It's fraud.

Villareal will be tough opponents - three british teams this season have failed to win there. I think abit of Henry magic should settle the tie.

If I buy a Dell laptop from the UK or US, and take it to Pakistan, will the warrantly still be valid? I know they have a setup in India, but if something breaks in Pakistan, will Dell refuse to fix it since the laptop is not in the country it was brought in (I am refering to the 1 year collect and return service, where Dell picks the laptop up, fixes it, and then returns it to the user).

A friend wants to send it to Pakistan, but is worried that Dell won't support it there. Is he better off buying it from their neighbours in India?

Final Scores:

Barca 2 - 0 Benfica (0 - 0 1st leg)

Juventus 0 - 0 Arsenal (0 - 2 lst leg)

No shocks here then, apart from the shocking performance from the old lady (Juve). How Viera must regret leaving Arsenal for them. They missed Del Piero.

Cannot wait for the Semi-Finals:

Barca V AC Milan (what a cracker that'll be)

Villareal V Arsenal

I predict a Barca - Arsenal final. What does everybody else think?

I completely agree with Rob. I find it very bitter to read about Indians getting jobs when they have openly lied about their credientials (they look at it as some kind of an achievement if they manage to fool an employer), while other people go to great lengths to get qualifications and experience, only to be denied the jobs they deserve.

This is why indian experience has very little, if any, weight in the west, because the sterotype is very true and peoples perception is based on that. The base premise is that "lots of people in India lie", thus it is best to put them at the end of the queue, unless one is prepared to go through an exhaustive background check.

The moderators have been very lenient here, sitting back while fellow ranchers encourage others to lie. I have seen it in countless threads, shaken my head and then read the same thing again a few days later. The shock factor has chipped away, and now I am very suspicious when I read messages here from Indians when they write "... I have X years of experience in Y".

Sooner or later, someone will find out, and you not need to look over your shoulder anymore.

Barca are much better than Benfica, who outplayed them in the first leg. They're the favourites, and have the best player in the world. Barca will finish Benfica off in front of almost 100,000 fans at the nou camp:

Looking forward to a AC Milan vs. Barca semi-final - what a game that will be.

P.S. Did anyone see the Milan - Lyon game? I feel so sorry for Lyon, Milan were awful.
