Thanks Madhav, Ajith and Mapraputa. That should be quite enough to give me a pretty good start.

Hi folks,
Am coming back to Java Ranch after a break. I was in the Java form for my SCJP preparation. After having passed that, i thought of taking a break before going for the next certification.
I am planning to give XML certification (IBM). I have one book on XML (XML-Bible). Could anyone suggest how should I approach for this certification? Also, on an average what is the duration for the preparation required?
I would really appreciate any inputs on the above.
Thanks and regards,
JAI
Sumathi,
within a file, there can be only one class that can be declared "public" and the file name should be the same as the public class name. For example, the following should be place in a file named Test.java :
class example {
some code...
}
public class Test {
some code...
}

Hope you got that.
sorry, i missed the "r" in OutputStreamWriter, in the earlier message....
Hi Tintin,
Its a type of encoding used for the InputStreamReader and OutputStreamWrite classes. You can specify "UTF-8" as one of the encoding types for these two classes. Generally, one is tested on the constructor basics for the different classes, including the above mentioned two classes. I not aware of any other type of questions being asked on these.

Hi Ravi,
Khalid Mughals book presents IO well. If u do not plan to buy the book, then you can get it from their website. The chapter on IO is present as a sample for download.
P.S. : I do not remember their site address; will post it in this forum once i get it. If anyone else knows the site address, please let ravi know.

Hi ethan,
Try khalid Mughals book. That book presents IO well enough.

Hi folks,
I took the test this morning and passed with 73%. I know its not a good score; but am happy that I have passed.
Overall, the test was simpler than most of the mocks that I gave. But, as i had mentioned some time back in this forum about the mistakes that i used to make in "lang" and "fundamentals", in the main test too, i followed the same pattern. It may be due to the fact that I was nervous too. It's been 7 years since i have gone to an examination center to give an exam. It reminded me the engineering examination days.... tense; butterflies in stomach, etc.... Questions on thread were quite simple for me. Same with IO. I got 89% and 90% resp. on them.
JQ+ definitely is a great tool. I had given the Marcus green tests too and a few others. Books wise, I read RHE and referenced "Java2 Complete reference".
So that's it folks, great feeling to be SCJP. Good luck to all who are appearing for the exam. Will be around. This forum is great, not only from the examination point of view; but also you can learn more and that never stops.......
