I am thankful to Kathy,Bert for their wonderful book HFEJB.Thanks to Frederick Esnault for his notes which i used for revision purpose.
I did read the Language Spec and used Valentin's cheat sheets for the topics
that i didnt have sufficient time to cover from the spec.

I did the mock exams from EJBcertificate.
For all the test takers...there are drag and drop questions specially for EJB-QL which i would advise to do last as the answers are lost if you review them.

Be very clear with roles and responsibilities.........means read spec

Hope this helps ......

Thanks to all the folks here who answered my questions......

Heading for the Web-Services forum now....

Cheers .....

On P 559 Client Scenarios (1) says the exception will be RemoteException for Remote i/f and EJBException for local when client calls a remove on an already removed bean.My doubt is why the NoSuchObjectException is not thrown ?

What are conditions under which it is thrown then because as per the book it is thrown when the client invokes a method on a home or component i/f when there is no underlying bean to support the object

Please clarify
The remote home interface for a Session Bean allows to -

" Obtain a handle for the remote home interface. The home handle can be serialized and written
to stable storage. Later, possibly in a different JVM, the handle can be deserialized from stable
storage and used to obtain back a reference of the remote home interface. "

My question is that how does the deserialization work in a different JVM.
Can somebody please explain this ?
I will be attempting around end of next month

The questions on J2EE patterns are not very tough.
I scored 100% on patterns
But I did read up SCWCD kit (HAnumanth Deshmukh) for the patterns part along with HFSJ.I liked their stategy and explanation a lot.
I used the previous version of the book and the Service Locator was not covered in that.
The Sun blue prints are supposedly good too.Meant to read them but could not.

Hey Karan,

I would suggest the same things as Rithesh. Please be very careful with the company you choose.

Recently one of my friends has had a bad experience in this regard. She was working for a consulting company which put her in a project telling her that it was a 6 month project. She relocated to a new city (new state) went through the trouble of finding an apartment and all the set-up related things.
During the time she worked for this client she had been putting more that 14 hrs of work, working weekends, working from home etc.The project had been behind schedule since 2 developpers had previously quit. But the hiring company told her none of this and neither did they tell her that the contract with them was expiring in 3 months.
The client did not renew the contract and she had to begin her search all over again.
The company did not pay her relocation the first time.Neither did they assist her in finding a new project this time.During the time she was not working she received no salary i.e. abt a month.
She has done MS and it took her a month to find a company giving her a decent rate and the promise of a long term project. And by the way one cannot prolong one's search since there are status issues.

She finally found a new company, transferred her Visa to them and guess what?
The client that they found for her was even more demanding. She has been working 18 hrs a day for the last week, travelling alone in the morning at 3 AM and asked to report back at 8:30 sharp.

Although I dont think has a stint of bad luck as hers still it is better to be safe than sorry
Hence do check out if they would help you find project or you would have to search and about the relocation expenses. Also many of the companies dont pay regularly.

Hope this helps in your decision making

Hi Vivek,

I used the book for the previous version of the exam.Service Locator pattern was not covered in that.
But together with HFSJ i found to be sufficient.
There are some good questions on patterns on j2eecertificate too which i tried.

Hope this helps.
Cheers
