Using the service.bat file to install and run Windows Services works OK with XP, but not with Vista.

The service is installed, but does not run from tomcat5w.exe or from Services.

The same with tomcat6w.exe using v6.0.13.

I have full Windows privileges for the Vista install.

I have read in other posts that this is a problem. Does anyone know if this is a bug that occurs with Vista, or am I the only one with this problem?

Hi

I am using Windows XP, Tomcat 5.5.17, JRE 1.5.0_08.

When using a shortcut with the following Target Properties:
"C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_08\bin\java.exe" -jar -Duser.dir="C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat" "C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat\bin\bootstrap.jar" start

my localization files work, and the use of the Robot class works.

When using Windows Services, neither work.

In the Services I am using a Classpath command:
C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat\bin\bootstrap.jar
and Java Options:
-Dcatalina.base=C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat
-Dcatalina.home=C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat
-Djava.endorsed.dirs=C:\Program Files\BMJ\Tomcat\common\endorsed

How can I use a Windows Service to read the ResourceBundle localization files and for the Robot to work?

Thanks

Hi

When installing the current version of Tomcat 5.5 on a computer where Tomcat 5.0 is installed, I get an error at the point of installing the new Service. One already exists.
The Abort, Retry, Ignore prompt comes up.

Do I need to uninstall the previous version (5.0)?

Is this really necessary? It is a bit confusing to a customer of mine.

Is there another way?

Is it a problem with the installer?

Regards
