Hi Guys,
I thought of posting a topic regarding h1b, usa, java , tax , pay and life style

I invite all H1b professionals around the world working in u.s and dreaming to work in u.s to reply about there experience and my queries.

To tell you I have been offered a job on h1b.

JAVA
--------------------------------
What is the future of java and in u.s particulary as .net is gaining momentum .
will .net ever overcome JAVA.

what technlogies and applications are in demand in u.s regarding java.?

WHat are the job scope if one only knows core java.?

what is a perfect combination of package for java technologies that one should come knowing/mastering to u.s on h1b.

H1B
----------------------

Although it is a speciallity occupation and people with bachelors in computer engineer and 2+ year exp are invited , still i have found that the u.s market doest not respect the 2 year exp and also the hiring consulting company abuses the consultants monetarily by not paying them market pay.
i know 2 years exp is not a something great...but many times peole have to search for 6 months for jobs ...
why is it so.. why is 2 indian years exp ==0 exp in u.s
is it true??
----------------------------------------------
Most of the consultants fail in interview due to lack of english knowledge and business etiquets.
is it true..??
how to improve business etiquets the american style..any links..sites..help..???

i know that american companies require knowledge of tibco..mq series...filenet and documentum...
which most of the h1b people dont have and they have to go and learn such technologies there...
and in return american recruiters treat them as non-knowledgeable persons...
is it true???

Many h1b consultants might be not having all credentials but still all h1b holders are considered as monsters i dont know why and are discriminated ..

PAY AND TAX STRUCTURE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
What is the pay that count to be above poverty level in u.s?
where does 50k/annum comes in the poverty level mark in new jersey state /edision city?
What is normal pay that one receives if he/she is american with 2 years experience ??? i am sure it would be more than 50k perhaps 80k annualy in cities like new york and jersey city ??/
WHAT IS THE TAX STRUCTURE ??
does all pay goes into taxable account?
is the total tax payable near to 33%?

how is the public transport system in new jersey ?
how is the transport system from new jersey to new york..how much time does it take to reach there..
-------------------------------------------------------
What is the life style in u.s
americans earn for 5 days and spend in week-ends?
How much does one needs to earn to live a u.s life style..with leisure and all expenses.???
---------------------------------------------------------------
One last request from my side..

i request all ranchers to post relevant answers/responses/queries to the post so that and such that ..everybody is benefited with knowledge..regarding u.s h1b...java market...tax and u.s life style..

one more request please ...please..dont fight over the topic of h1b abusing ..and americans jobs being thrown out...i surely dont want this topic to be discussed that way..

and last one..i dont know is this is the right place to put it but i suggest that there should be a forum on h1b..what does the people at javaranch thing regarding it..???

Thanks in advance to all replying...
Pathan.

hey freinds,,
i got this linke
according if u have pay between 50k$
the state tax would be 3200$
and federal tax would be 8600$ annually.
that comes to about 12k$ annually..if all income is taxable and no exemptions.

check the links

Yes i know..i m trying for scwcd and learning struts

Depending on which part of NJ you stay, 50k can be good or bad. Places closer to NY such as Hoboken etc are expensive. Please away from NY like Princeton, Trenton are easy on rent. Sharing is the best option.

i think it would be edison..
then after some where..but it would be sharing only.
no car

You can find out the state tax from google. I think it should be between 4-8%. The federal tax rate is standard. In addition, you'll be paying FICA and Medicare.

Depends what your age is. Are you married? Have kids? Answers to these questions will determine if coming to US is worth it.

i am 24 no married.and no kids..
no car..low expenses...what could be the total savings
2k$/months

i searched and found different results for differnt things..
on average i find 25-30% tax but not an exact thing.

My age is 24 and i m not married +ofcourse no kids
Also nobody from new-jersey told me expenses.
can i save more than 2000$ a month..if only spend for basic expenses like sharing rent and food and no car.

Hi mehgna and group
thanks for the reply.
i want to ask some more questions,

i have heard companies like lehman brothers and such other companies directly recruit those having h1b..
so is it worth going to u.s on low payscale to try out our luck.???
as it is the country of opportunity..
or is it better to stay in india and wait for such opportunity..

also i want to know ..how easy is it to get jobs if one have h1b
i have 2 years exp in java/j2ee

looking at the taxes i think i wont be saving any money..
and my opinion is it is not worth going to u.s on h1b thru boddyshopper as they eat up our pile of share..

can anybody share about this things.

anyways
bye
