Hi syed,
Did you come across any solution for invalidating the session with session id. I too have a similar problem. I am trying to restrict my user to log in twice form different places and use the the application. When the user logs in for the first time, I am allowing him to use the applicaiton or browse the pages. If this user logs in to application from another place/browser at that time, I will catch and send a message that: "You are already logged in". Now I am asking him to work at the place where he logged in first time. But I want to provide a option that upon user request from the second place, I would like to invalidate his session at the first place. It will be similar to what they do in Yahoo/MSN messneger when you log in for the second time.
Hope you have got an idea about this. Please update me if you have any good idea to solve this problem....?

Hi, I have to restrict the user from signing twice to my site from the same place or from another place. I would like you give functionality similar to Yahoo/MSN messenger, when the user logs in for the second time. In my applicatin I am able to catch the user when he logs in second time, and giving a message to the user about the relogin. But I want to close the previous session of the user, so that the user can continue working at this place. Any ideas/advices on how to do this.

Hello,
I have to implement NT authentication in our website for customer Signin and authentication. We are developing our site on IPlanet App server. Earlier I have tried to implement the same with JavaWebserver but in vain. My requirement is like this:
1) When the user clicks on Sign in button, the challenge-response window shoud appear. When the user enters his userid and password we have to authenticate him.
2) When the user enrolls in our site, we are storing his details in Directory Server using LDAP. How can we store the same in NTLM(NT environment). How about password changes and new password allocation with
NT authentication.
I have heard that we can do the same using ASP. But now we are using Java. So I need a solution for it.
Thanking you in advance

Hi Phil Hanna!
I need you answer to my question. I have bound a class to my session in a Servlet on iPlanet App server. I have to execute some code when the bound and unbound methods are called. I thought that the method unbound will be called when I remove the particular class from the session or when the session expires. I have verified the same with JWS. But in iPlanet the method valueUnbound() is called immediately after value bound is called. What will be the problem with it. Is there specail way to handle it in iPlanet App server?
Bye!

hi!
I have a solution for my self for the first part of the question..what about this:*********
Here, the real problem comes when the user does not logout from the site and left the browser idle, or some network failure may happen...In this also, i will bind a class to the user session, and when the session times out, this class will set the status to OFF.
any comments on this.....

hi!
Insite we have to restrict duplicate logins of the same user. We are developing our site using jsp/servlets on iPlanet Appserver..
I am thinking for a solution like this: I will maintain a status in the user table as: ON/OFF to indicate whether user loggedin or logout. If the status is ON, and again the user tries to login, we will send a msg:" Duplicate Login. Logout and try..."; When the user logs out, status is set to OFF.
Here, the real problem comes when the user does not logout from the site and left the browser idle, or some network failure may happen...In this also, i will bind a class to the user session, and when the session times out, this class will set the status to OFF.
I have implemented the same on JWS, it is working fine...but i am getting a problem on iPlanet...any ideas....or any new solution to this problem....
bye!
