JavaRanch is one of my favorite sites and I couldn't believe when you posted that someone has ripped the site. There are so many heroes in the active staff list of your site who put a lot of efforts.

It is such a famous site for me that I think once you file a complaint at Google they should be easily able to identify who is fake and take action.

Anyways I'm happy that the reddit guys have helped.

One Jar tries to solve this problem.

Your code does not follow this rule --> "Once a Swing component has been realized, all code that might affect or depend on the state of that component should be executed in the event-dispatching thread." Read this for more info.

A ItemEvent will be generated only when the selection changes. Since already the first element is being selected setSelectedIndex(0) will not raise an event. You may want to initially set the text for price label or add a first item like "Select a size" to JComboBox and don't set any initial value for price label.
Hope this helps.

Use java.util.Calender's getInstance and add methods. Have a look at its documentation.

You are facing the problem because of adding ActionListener to JComboBox. Use a ItemListener for the JComboBox. Have a look at java tutorial's JComboBox section for usage and more details. http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/combobox.html

You can have a look at jgoodies' binding project at java.net. It strives for clear separation of model and view.

I just now cleared the SCJP 6.0 exam with 90%(Scored 65 for 72 questions).

First of all I should thank Kathy and Bates for the wonderful SCJP 6.0 Study Guide.
I spent a total of 7 days for the preparation as I'm already working with Java for past 2 years. The Study Guide(especially the practice questions at end of each chapter) helped a lot in aligning the thought towards the exam. And the LearnKey MasterExams provided in the companion CD are simply superb. Also the software closely imitates the real exam scenario.
Also, thanks to the wonderful ranch and the members who are contributing to the threads.

So, for experienced guys I would simply suggest the book and mock tests that came with the book. You are good to go.
(I also bought the SCJP 6.0 practice exams from techfaq but the question there are simply horrible. I just saw some 10 questions out of which every question is of horrible quality and 3 are actually wrong. I didn't touch those practice exams again)

On a completely different note, I wasn't actually very happy with the completion of certification since I came to know about so called "certification question ---" with the help of which some people are able to easily complete and even score superb. Is there something that Sun can do to avoid this?

Anyways, since the pre-requisite for SCJD is finished now I will concentrate on it.

Dear All,

Can some one help me with the process of signing a Midlet. The literature available on net is more of theory than practise. Many examples suggest creating a self certified key and etc. But i want to deploy my application for actual use and not for testing i.e i want to buy a verisign(or some other) certificate for Java and use that to sign my midlets. It would be helpful if some one call tell the process or point me to any good resource.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,
I wanted to know if there is a way to delete the J2ME application remotely.
That is i should initiate the deletion of the application with a request/notification from the server(the server can send an SMS).

Please let me know if it is possible or not.

Regards,
