Totally agree !

Its quite frustrating at times to search for jobs and receive no calls/responses. Don't give up though. Apart from Monster, Times-Job there are lots of sites and Forums (try doing Google) that keep posting of freshers jobs and walk-ins too.. Keep hunting regularly, post your resume on all sites you come across, if Job Description gives any HR contact number - call them up and setup interview date, keep shooting mails to HR/Company Career emails -- that can be found on Company specific sites, talk up with your friends , colleagues, seniors and ask them to forward your resume. And last but not the least - In Interview and Pre-Interview conversation with HR's Always show you are looking for a Long Term Association with the company - the company will be spending time and effort on you to groom you up as per their project requirement and hence would obviously expect you to stay back for longer time. Additionally staying in one company for longer duration has its Own Plus Points - Don’t want to fill this Post with that details..

Hope at least one point helps you out in your job search.

gold linux,

Assuming that you are India, doesnt 2003 -> 35 age a lot of gap. I mean did you had gaps during engineering (if thats what I believe you have studied).

Anyways, back to the topic, to be true , honestly getting back to development after such a long gap is very difficult in India. I don't wont to make you lose hope or somethg, but just wanna make sure that you will need to work real hard to break the Difficult To Break Rules Set Up and Followed By HR's.

Apart from good suggestions that someone here has given of contributing to Open Source project, see if you can get hold of good collegues and mates that can atleast help you setup an interview. Startup/Smaller companies are good place to start - they are always looking out for passionate people and you will get lots of things to work on.

All the best!

so we have all sorts of answers..

I am glad I started this thread. Its definitely helping me in my thought process!! Thanks guys!!

Preeti .. the priorities you mentioned fun, career, money are all number ONE on my list ... .. But to be frank, money is my last priority and who wont like if money is followed with fun and excitement too..
As you pointed out correctly I dont have any experience in other passions I mentioned. But again, I wanna be my own boss. This put me into another thought process. Can anyone tell me about freelancing? How does it work?

Hey...those were real quick responses..thanks!

But I want to hear more. Anyone please?

As you said Abhijit, tourism is on my list as I too enjoy meeting people and knowing their cultures.. you said it right, its fun in its own way - I myself have enjoyed going around world and interacting with people and would definitely like to assist anyone and everyone to enjoy the way I did.

Can you tell me "how" to enter tourism market? any other tips?

Hey all..

Hope everyone is doing great.

I need your help in deciding my 'next step' .. Ofcourse I am considering different options (and naturally the first thing you might say is "follow your heart".. but what if heart is confused too ..

I have varied experience as Java/j2ee developer for 2+ years (India), quality assurance/tester (US) for 1 year and consulting(IIMA, India) for 1 year...still continuing..

Couple of months down the line I am thinking of switching again, BUT this time to make it as Long-time career option..

As you must have guessed it right, being worked in different fields I am confused which one to finally go for.

Can you please guide me what could be best possible option for me. I have willingly worked in different streams with an attitude of gaining new experiences and enjoying each phase of it. Is there anything I can do wherein I can put in all my skills to work? including technology, quality , consulting? What all options can I consider?

Shall I do SCJP and get back to Java
Or
do MBA and get into Managemnet consulting
Or
start something on my own
Or
Do something totally off the track like I even have passion for 'travel and tourism', 'food and catering'.

any frank opinions? I would possibly wanna work in Mumbai, India.

Thank you for reading thru this long mail and responding

Hi All...

-------------------------------------
public class example {
int i[] = {0};
public static void main(String args[]) {
int i[] = {1};
change_i(i);
System.out.println(i[0]);
}
public static void change_i(int i[]) {
i[0] = 2;
i[0] *= 2;
}
}

The program prints 4. Fine.
---------------------------------
But then Can anyone explain me what happening in this program???

public class example {
int i[] = {0};
public static void main(String args[]) {
int i[] = {1};
change_i(i);
System.out.println(i[0]);
}
public static void change_i(int i[]) {
int j[] = {2};
i = j;
}
}

The program prints 1. I thought i & j were referencing same object after the assignment (i=j)?

Anyone please. Thank you.
Anyone tried online course? If so, please share your experience.

You can ask the 3rd company who are ready to transfer your H1. They know about "h1 transfer Laws" & they should be the one that can answer your query..

Dont take it by heart.. But a CV written this way will never fetch you any jobs (neither in India nor abroad).

CV is the first thing that goes to the HR/Recruiter (not u), so it should speak for you. If you are a fresher, you can always add the projects, analysis or anything important you did till date. Specify the soft skills, the technologies you know..

Get your CV evaluated from 2 3 friends or seniors ..

That would help..

should i choose only my own country ?
i dont have visa.

what does the text mean ? and what should be the appropriate entry ?

It means state all the Countries you are interested and most importantly eligible to work legally. If you do not hold any visa, you need to specify your Home Country.

Hi..

There is no fix pattern or set of question asked at Interviews. (particularly for a fresh graduate - since there is so much to discuss about - your course study, resume, projects, languages you know..and so on)..

Think of it as a discussion rather than a technical interview. Brush up your basics, search on internet and keep yourself updated with new technologies in market (not subjective..but atleast what are they meant for and how it works).

Interviewer is more willing to know your interests and liking..and if you are really willing to work for them and put in extra efforts to learn new things and pace-up quickly to become productive in short frame of time.

All said, I just wish you All the Best..

As you said (yelled), earlier, it is not against our policy to list companies in a given area. Asking or answering subjective questions about companies, however, is exactly what that policy was meant to prevent.

If this continues, this thread will be deleted.

Hi...

I am absolutely sorry if I offended you or anyone on the group. I never meant to be rude though. I just used it to make sure that if any of Ranchers feel it uncomfortable to list the names of companies, then they just shouldnt reply.. Anyways my bad.

Thank you Others for the replies.

Ciao..
