Sujay,

Default value of "user"in index.jsp is set to empty and not null. So check for empty value for request parameter "user" instead of 'null' and that should work.

Hello,
I am using Eclipse 3.x IDE for java development and I am unable to setup a simple feature i.e., automatically add class "import"s to the java code. As of now I have to use crtl+shift+m to achieve this.
I used Jdeveloper before and in that IDE as and when I type a class name in the code it popsup a window asking to add an import. Is this possible in Eclipse?

Thanks,

Hello,
We configured a Tomcat behind Apache web server and all HTTP & HTTPS requests are served by Tomcat via Apache web server. The issue is we are able to see client IP in apache logs but on the tomcat end it shows Apache web server IP as client IP. How to get the actual Client IP on the Tomcat side? I believe this can be achieved by some config changes on the Apache end. But not sure what needs to be changed here? any help would be appreciated.

Hello there,

Is it allowed to use getGeneratedKeys() on PreparedStatement to get all the generated unique IDs (seq.nextval) generated in a batch update? please advice.

If it is not allowed please could you suggest a method to retrieve sequence Ids from a batch update.

Here is the requirement:

I have 2 tables DataTable1 (columns: ID, Name) and DataTable2 (REF-ID, value) and the relationship between these table is one-to-many:

I am using an batch insert into DataTable1 to add multiple rows and each row's ID is unique and it is generated by seq.nextval. Now, after this batch insert I need to retrieve all the generated IDs and use these IDs to inser data into the second table(DataTable2).

Thanks for your help.

Congratulations!!
Also, thanks for sharing your experience on this exam.

I believe the confusion is due to the missing text in the question # 7 on page 267. However, the answer to this question on page 274 shows the text correctly - "Attributes bound into a session are available to any other servlet that belongs to the same ServletContext".

Time to time I have been getting myself on and off the path to obtain certifications in Java to partly add sun logos to my resume and partly to acquire some knowledge or to test my knowledge in the respective areas. This year I made up my mind to clear atleast one Java Certification (mostly SCEA). From the beginning my aim is on the SCEA certification as my interest is mostly inclined towards the application design/architecture then towards development.
Reading through some of the post in this forum I noticed people suggested to take SCWCD, SCBCD prior to appearing for SCEA. I have completed my SCJP almost 7-8 year back and now i have no interest in taking the the following tests - SCWCD, SCBCD. I believe I have good knowledge and experience in J2EE technologies. However, my knowledge and experience in EJBs is very limited. When we work on the project for SCEA, is it mandatory to use EJBs or can I use other most efficient and flexible opensource APIs and exclude EJBs completely form my project? will this have any negative effect on the overall result?? do you still suggest to take SCWCD and SCBCD prior to SCEA? pelase advice.

Also, If anybody has a good online resource on UML please post it to me. I am planning to start my preparation from UML.

Thanks very much for your help,

Hi there,

I am bit new to struts framework and currently implimenting an application using struts 1.2.7. I am breaking my head to fix the following issue..any help is truly appreciated.

If I use struts tablib to display property "name" of a bean "project" It works fine(maps request parameter 'name' to the bean automatically).
<html:text property="project.name" size="10"/>

But, if I change the above code to use standard html <input> element along with JSTL 'c ut', 'name' is not being mapped to the bean automatically as it did with the previous code(shown above).

<input type="text" name="project.name" value="<c ut value='${project.name}' />" size="10" >

Any help to fix this issue? Do i have to explicitly map request data(name) to the bean manually? I have assumed that, if the request contains any of the parameters that match the properties of the formbean then struts will take care of automatically mapping request data to the bean...is my assumption wrong?

Please help...

Hi All,

To start with, I have been thinking to get this certification (SCEA)
since 2003. I was very serious at that time, purchased exam
voucher/study guide and started preparing for the first test. Due to
several reasons, not to mention here, I could not proceed any further.
Now, again I am planning to take this exam - not just for the
certificate but also to gain additional knowledge that might add-up to
my 6 years of software development experience. I am quite lucky this
time, my company will sponsor for all the certification expenses. I
have to still put lots of effort from my end as well to get through
it. I am not sure how much is SCEA certification worth in the current
market. I would really appreciate if any of you can point me to some
kind of research data or statistics on the web showing the advantages
of having SCEA certification. I am a SUN certified developer with 92%
back in 2000. None of the recruiting companies gave any preference for
having this certification at that time. On the other hand Brain Bench
was more popular. Is SCEA certification really worth taking? Will it
really add up to the career growth?

I would really appreciate any additional information that might help
me to take the right step.

Thank you,
Sanchi
