Ya the problem is over. What I did previously is that I had disabled javascript in Mozilla. So the thing couldnt get displayed in the Browser. But one thing must be noticed is that in my application I havenot used any javascript or css. It was a plain file. I had some .js files previously, latter I deleted those. Moreover for that reason I made few new applications too. Too simple applications. No javascript No css. just few dragged text boxes and buttons. But Nothing was displayed when run. After Enabling the "Enable JavaScript" check box. The things worked again.

What could be the reason. If the application doesn't have any javasrcipt why will not the display work?

Thanks & Regards

JSF
Hi,

I am new to Java Server Faces.

I made a small application to see the working of JSF. I am using Mozilla as my default web browser and NetBeans IDE 6.1. I have dragged down few text boxes and few buttons. And I made server side calculations and tried to display the result in the JSP page. That worked fine. But now. When I am trying to run it again. I just see a blank page. No controls over the HTML page. But when I copy the URL and paste in the IE the application runs successfully. What could be the possible problem?

FYI I am using NetBeans IDE version 6.1.
Where might be the problem. Where should I look to fix the error.

Thanks & Regards

The application can't be changed now. As its a huge application it will need a huge time. Thanks for your opinion. I will go with that. Just cutting the codes of opening connection through VB replacing that with opening xml file and .net dll reference codes. I am worried for the kind of file that will be created, huge data together, inside a single XML file, is the biggest challenge. Reading those may become a nightmare.

Thanks

Hello,

Recently I got a Project.
A hospital has a software with number of modules like Transaction, Billing. etc etc. All kind of modules which is needed for an Hospital management. The most awkward thing with the application is that the application runs in VB 6. And the back end is oracle 9i(this is a good thing).

The Hospital has more than 150 terminals. The systems remain very busy all the time. As they are using VB6 which uses ADO.

Originally from http://www.startvbdotnet.com/ado/default.aspx

ADO was a connected data access, which means that when a connection to the database is established the connection remains open until the application is closed.

Originally from http://www.startvbdotnet.com/ado/default.aspx

ADO .NET addresses the above mentioned problems by maintaining a disconnected database access model which means, when an application interacts with the database, the connection is opened to serve the request of the application and is closed as soon as the request is completed.

Once the Application in the Hospital got hanged, because each time a request is needed to be sent to the Oracle Database, opens up a new connection. A oracle database expert was called for that reason and he increased the default number of session (150) to 2000. Application has started running but due to the connection traffic the application is too slow. I do programming in VB.NET and sometimes in Java too. What I have suggested is that a .dll file must be created which will have a reference inside the vb 6 code. The select Sql Commands from the vb6 will be send to the .dll file, that will create an XML file from the dataset in vb.net. A .XSL file will be used to organize the xml format to make this file readable to recordset in vb6.

I made a demo of an application using vb6 and VB.NET with a small data from MS access. The process runs successfully. What I am more anxious about is that the XML file which will be created in Real scenario will be very very heavy in size. That will definitely cross more than 5 MBs. And the reading from that file will be slow. But not as slow as it is in present condition.

VB.NET uses DOM to read and write the data which is a tree structured and It takes more time to read and write a XML file than the SAX Processes which is in Java.

Can I refer a Java Classes to do the thing in for the issue? If Possible how can I do that? and what could be the issues. Now its not feasible to change the whole application to any other platforms. we need to change the transaction part.

So, I would like to get some opinion regarding the issue.

Hello Anand,

Thanks for your response. I have made layout as Null via popup menu.

There are 3 attributes for Frame. Form Resize, Form Position, Form Resize policy.. where to change the resize code.

Hi All,

Building a desktop application in Java. Have number of forms. Each form has at least 15-20 tools(eg. Button, TextBox etc etc). I am using NetBeans IDE 6. I am dragging from the tool box. But It never get organised as I wanted it to be. When running the program it takes a different pattern. I have tried a lot. Is there any other freewares for better developments of Swing Screen? I would like to have a stylish swing builder. I have seen such Gui Builders for .NET and here is the link : Skin Crafter.
Please let me know how should I use NetBeans IDE 6 for building GUI. I have experience in Web development. Is this something like HTML coding. I think building forms in Visual Studio.Net is easier.

Hello All,
I have completed my engineering last year. And working for an organization voluntarily. I don't want to do Job. Is freelance programs like peopleperhour and freelance a better option than doing job in India?

Thanks & Regards

Are Java Console Application and Java Swing Application same..??

I have a Java console application that works just fine. It lets you enter numbers and strings, and does various operations and gives you output. It works great.

Problem: I need to create a GUI interface for the application. It doesn't have to be fancy, but something like: enter number or string, press a button, give result. And I may need several buttons, several input boxes, and one output box. And placing it within a static dialog will be fine.

I need two things -- create the GUI and connect to my existing console application.

How do I do that ?

Do I need a special IDE ? Or can I just code something up quickly ? Like I said I don't need anything complex. Just the bare bones functionality. Ideally I'd prefer some SIMPLE sample code with comments where things are not clear if it's possible. Or a good tutorial or a good IDE suggestion along with directions on how to. Basically any way that will get me up to speed without having to learn lotsa theory at this time.

There are number of toolkits to implement AJAX on an application.

 Prototype
 Dojo
 jQuery
 Yahoo UI
 Mootools
 Ext

How should a developer make a choice among these? How is prototype and script.aculo.us different from others? How are the objectives of Protoype and Script.aculo.us different from the rest of the kits? For What kinds of applications should a developer make a choice to and not to Prototype?

Thanks & Regards

Hi all,

Broader scopes!!!
AJAX has been used in common in web applications. Many number of sites are using the technology to implement number of facilities in a web page --starting from email validations to chatting. I am waiting to know the future scope of this technology. How will the paradigm shift from ajax will happen? How far can we push the walls of ajax applications beyond maps and chats? How far can we implement ajax on mobile? And how will prototype and scriptaculous help?

Thanks and Regards

What I planned is that : -

I created an instance of the class inputmovers(explained in next paragraph) inside the actionPerformed method of my class userdataentry(extends JFrame). And passed the instance(of userdataentry) to the xmlCreator() method of inputmover class.
I am using netbeans.
The detail can be seen in the codes:-

I made a class inputmover. Then I create one method named xmlCreator which returns string and take Object obj as argument.

The following are the codes :

The above class inputmover is not compiled because the sentence obj.getComponentCount(); is showing error(cannot find symbol). What could be done to make an xml string as I have queried earlier in this Post.

Hello.

I am doing a project. It has many forms for Data Input.

I would like to create a class which will be called from the Form classes * (*extends JFrame) for reading, Creating and returning the data when I press save button. The class will read values from the JFrame input components using while loop and create and return a string from these values resembling XML Document structure("<nameJTextField>Good Boy</nameJTextField>") . The data will then be passed to another class which will extract these data from the XML Schema and send to JDBC for data insert/update.

I dont like to make array or XML string in the same JFrame classes as it will be rather confusing and difficult to maintain. So, How can I make a single Class to create and return the string containing input Values with their Ids?

Thanks & Regards

Hello,

The above codes really helped me. My Application do have many forms with lots of JTextFields/JFormattedTextFields. I am using NetBeans. Here the autogenerated code for the declarations looks like:

When I call the NonNumericFilter/NumericFilter and then set the document filter The above declaration need static keyword. So I have to go to the files(.java) stored in my project folder and have to change the self generated declaration by inserting "static" keyword. Why the declarations for control need static Keyword for setting DocumentFilter? Is there a wayout so that I dont have to get inside these folders and change the self generated codes inside .java files.

Thanks & Regards
