Hi all, I have a small problem which I hope somebody can help me with.

I am designing an iso-metric game application. One of the features is a Sprite design feature. The user selects an Image and other attributes such as transparency, a Polygon and name. The user saves an array that contains all the Sprites in that so-called Library. Some of the images are gif-ani.I noticed that it was neccesary to convert the Image to an ImageIcon because Image is not serializable. Thats fine. But when you inflate the object (Sprite) and cast the ImageIcon as an Image the Gif animation does not work. Its just a static image. Something has been lost along the way.

I believe if you use ImageObserver that can help.

If anyone has experience in serializing an Image which is an ani-gif and then inflating it and getting that ani-gif up and running again I would love to hear you method.

Hi all.

I got that book in Australia but it cost me a pretty penny through a company called Booktopia. Any decent book company in any country can import specialist books given a decent time frame. Remember technical books are not stocked at you local news agent or airport Tom Clancy Bookstore.

If people only have 3.75 days to learn how to be a Java Associate, I doubt you would be learning much of value in the long term. Qualifications are important but knowledge is better.

Hi all.

I bought this material too. It was totally incomprehensible. It said if you read this you will pass the exam. I have never seen anything so poorly put together. I think the first part was on Reagans early years and the rest on Herb Tarlic's suit with some irrelevant java stuff pasted into it. Terrible , terrible stuff.

The website looks authentic and comprehensive. That was enough for stupid me to buy the Associate material. I could not make any sence of it what-so-ever. The thing that I noticed most was that it has no format. No start, no beginning and no end. I am not saying that all the stuff they do is a rip off because I do not know, or ever want to find out. The only level of knowledge you get from this material is the wisdom to be careful.

Regards.

Steve.

Hi all.

I am looking foward to getting delivery of the book too. I bypassed Amazon and ordered the book through a local Australian online bookstore. I hope they can deliver in good-time. Once I get the book I will absorb the material and when I feel I am prepared I will book the exam. I have been learning programming and especially Java over the last 4 years. Learning is a process of accumulation not cramming. I hope this book will be the icing on the cake.

Hi all.

I have been learning java for a short while and am enjoying makeing some games. Check on my site. www.steveswebsitemagic.com

I have made to games in the form of applets. Basically the game plays on a big Gif image of about 200Kb. The scrolling image is about 4000 by 2000 high and is dragged within the applet. So its quite a big image to down load. What I would like to do is create the image in-game by composting the image from its constituent sprites. What I am trying to say is that can the buffered image be made into a Gif and saved? Is it possible to do that?

I would appreciate anyone taking the time to help me out.

Regards.
