Summary

    Summary


    As a J2EE developer, you will play a key role in developing new technology initiatives for a very high-growth organization. These new initiatives will include content and contact management systems, reporting systems, and other mission-critical applications as appropriate. As a member of the dynamic and highly-motivated technology development team, you will play a key role in all aspects of the system development lifecycle. Depending upon the scope of each project, you will work directly with business owners or through project managers, but will always communicate closely with the rest of the technology development team. You will report directly to the VP of Technology.

    Duties/Responsibilities
  • Developing scalable applications in a dynamic environment, primarily using J2EE, Struts Framework, and object-relational frameworks


  • Developing and modifying databases as needed to support application development and continually providing support for internally-developed applications


  • Developing technical architecture documentation based upon business requirements


  • Enhancing and maintaining existing application suite


  • Coordinating development efforts in an Agile-like, testing-centric environment


  • Communicating development status on a regular basis to technology team members


  • Coordinating technology development efforts directly with business owners


  • Recommending cost-effective technology solutions for business challenges



  • You must possess the following qualities:
  • Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, and have exceptional writing and communication skills


  • Demonstrated record of developing successful applications that are highly integrated and reliable


  • Ability to operate effectively and with a sense of possibility, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment



  • Required Background/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
  • At least three years development experience in both web-client and EJB tier J2EE systems
  • At least six months development experience in Visual Basic and other Microsoft development environments
  • Proven experience in iterative system design, development, and implementation
  • Experience developing in Linux, Apache, Tomcat, and JUnit
  • Strong Struts and object-relational mapping modeling experience with frameworks such as Torque or Hibernate
  • Background in Postgres SQL, MySQL, or general SQL skills
  • Experience working with open-source solutions

    Summary



    You will be responsible for leading a team of 2-4 senior software engineers and providing technical expertise
    in the design and implementation of core spend and sourcing solutions. You will be working with
    marketing and professional services to gather requirements, write specifications, and develop project plans.

    Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead high-level designs: identifying reuse, frameworks, interfaces and third-party components


  • Identify and mitigate performance and security exposures

  • Map logical architectures to resources necessary to implement them in the physical architecture


  • Review detailed design of components/modules


  • Help establish technology standards and ensure cross-product technology and design compliance


  • Provide coaching and mentoring to developers on architecture, frameworks, and best development practices

  • Required Background/Experience
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field


  • 10+ years in a software development role

  • 7+ of those years must have been in a technical leadership role


  • Understanding of software design and implementation practices and tools


  • Experience dealing directly with partners and customers


  • Exposure to the entire Software Development Life Cycle


  • Proficient with using UML to model software designs


  • Extensive Object-Oriented Design and Architecture, Web and GUI/UI, multi-tiered development, and distributed systems experience in recent software development projects


  • Extensive HTML/DHTML JavaScript, JSP, Java, and Servlet experience


  • Prior EJB work experience. You must have been exposed to session and entity beans and understand bean and container-managed persistence


  • Knowledge and use of an ORM technology, preferably Oracle�s Toplink or iBATIS


  • SQL/RDBMS experience


  • DOM and SAX XML-parser experience


  • Knowledge and use of web server technologies, preferably MS IIS, Apache, and Netscape


  • Knowledge and use of a servlet engine technology, preferably Allaire�s JRUN and BEA�s Weblogic


  • Knowledge and use of an application server technology and its tools, preferably BEA�s Weblogic and IBM's Websphere


  • Extensive experience using a J2EE framework that econmpasses all tiers, preferably Spring
