Hi,

We are using the mysql replication connector (version 5.12) with Tomcat 5.5 & Tomcat 6 to connect the master, slave databases. But the servers are hanging periodically (almost once in a day) due to the following error (excerpt from thread dump):

Any help/pointer is highly appreciated.

Hi,

I am fairly new to J2ME. Just need to write one MIDlet to play the video files. The requirement is, need to fetch the video file first time from remote server and need to store in the local file system on the handset. From subsequent request for the video play will be played from local file.

I am running into couple of issues with my code:
1) Downloading and storing in the local file system successfully, but the play part getting the exception “createPlayer() failed”. – Basically not able to play manually. Is it the problem of video format while storing?
2) I could not take the control on video, if I place the good format video (playing if we run manually) into local system.

FYI - I am writing for Samsung omnia handset.

Any help highly appreciated.

Hi,

We are using the internal framework for database operations so it might have tested properly. Even if it is poorly written we have configured as

so this will take care of it. At this moment I could not find the way to proceed.

Anyway thanks for your help.

We are facing issue with dbcp connection pooling in combination of tomcat sever and MySQL. The summary of stack trace is:

when i googled, Adding "autoReconnect=true" with jdbc URL will help to solve our problem, making this change also not solving our problem.

Hi Tim,

Yes. I can accept your point. We are not allowing the hot deployment and not making any changes in the web application level. We are changing the configuration file at Tomcat server level. We observing the behavior of restarting the Tomcat server.

Hi Kees,

Thanks for your reply. My understanding is we need to restart the server manually if there are changes in server.xml or context.xml(Please correct me if i am wrong). I am not able to understand why is it happening automatically?

Hi Folks,

One of the tomcat server in our project is restarting automatically when ever we edit the context.xml file. We have installed tomcat from redhat inbuilt package. Is this known issue or any body have come across similar issue in past?

Hi Rajeev & Ulf,

IE is not sending the request header accept-charset itself to server side. But FF does it.
Also I have tried Rajeev solution, seems to be working to my situation. So I can go with it.

Thanks for your replies.

JSP
Hi,

Currently I am facing some issue with rendering French & German characters through JSP.
In firefox, all are fine and rendering properly, but the problem is with the IE 6.0. Its not displaying properly. For example:

        this search term rendered as „ – œ Ÿ ‚

Also there is a solution in the Web says It will be resolved, if we put the URI encoding to UTF-8 in server.xml of Tomcat. But if I use the above solution, French characters are working in IE and not working in the firefox.

For more information, we are using:

1) Tomcat 5.5.x

2) In JSP, we are using following meta tag and encoding:

<%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

Note: I have tried with iso-8859-15 instead of UTF-8. But no use.

Any help or pointers highly appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We cannot handle binary data with Writer. can handle only the character stream. In contrast, OutputStream can handle both stream (binary or character data).

Hi,

HTTP specification does not restrict the actual size. It depends on the web browser and web server capabilities. Some old browser will allow only 255 characters. Some MS IE version will allow between 2000 to 3000 characters.

Hi,

correct the WEB_INF directory name to WEB-INF, and try again.
