I am a newbie to jsf2 and am a little confused with the new injection rules. I am trying to use the @Produces and @Inject attributes between two beans and the value keeps coming up null in the injected bean, however, it seems to work when I try to display the value from a .xhtml page. Can someone point me in the direction of documentation that would explain this process step-by-step.

Is it possible to capture form data, retrieve a pre-existing xslt stylesheet, place the captured data inside the stylesheet and send it out as a pdf email, using a servlet?

I dont know if this matters but I have the a4j:commandButton and the rich:suggestionBox wrapped in a rich:tabPanel.

Whenever the user selects an entry from the suggestionBox, I have an a4j:support fire an action to populate an object and reRender a section of the page. This is where things get strange. For some reason, the a4j:commandButton stops working after I make the selection. I am using Eclipse-Ganymede and there are no errors in the console window. Does anyone have a clue on a possible cause for this?

I have a facelet page with one field for the date and another for the time. I am trying to use the f:convertDateTime to format the fields. This is where things begin to get confusing. It seems as if the f:convertDateTime only works with the Date object. Isn't the Date object marked for deprecation? I also seem to be having a problem with the time information field, which is a Date object. For some strange reason, the time information seems to get lost and I end up with a default time of 00:00:00. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a modalpanel and need a page action to fire before the modalpanel finishes loading. Would this be possible? I am trying to set this up through the seam pages.xml file, but the page action never fires. Am I missing something?

I am hoping that this is a good place to ask this question, if not I apologize. Here is my scenario, I have a datagrid where a user can browse a list of records. I want a modalPanel to appear where the user can enter information to filter the list. I would also like to template my modalPanel pages using facelets and ui:include to make them appear. For example, say the list page is called list.xhtml, the template page is called modal_template.xhtml and the modal page is called filter.xhtml. What do I need to surround the content in the modal_template.xhtml and filter.xhtml with; should it be UI:composition in both .xhtml pages or is this not the case. I cannot find any examples on how this should be done. Could someone provide an example of what this should look like?

Suppose I have an .xhtml page that collect Widget information from a given user. After the user enters the infomation, I have a stored procedure that will take the information and insert it into a Widget table using session.save. Now for the tricky part, when the user initially entered the information there was no database record associated with this Widget thus no primary key. After the proc performs the insert, I need to somehow associate the primary key with the current Widget object. Does hibernate provide a mechanism for this?

I am receiving the following error while trying to retrieve a list of widgets from the database using a stored procedure using Hibernate:

Am I missing something?
I do notice that HibernateUtil appears to be a member of org.buni.meldware.mail.util.HibernateUtil package. This seems strange. Should this be the case?

I am trying to add permissions to my eclipse seam project using jboss rules. When I created the project a security.drl file was added to it. I am trying to grant permissions to certain logged in user groups. In a typical scenario, a user would log into the system and a User object would be added to the session when the authenticate method is called. From this point, I need a way to deny login access to a certain user group, say bankers. I also need to allow Administrators to add users to the system. I am having trouble finding documentation to explain how the syntax should work for this scenario. How would the security.drl file know about the user object in the session or am I viewing this wrong? Second, is PermissionCheck and Role something that my object provides or is it something internal to Drools? Also, can someone point me in the direction of documentation and example code?

I was thinking it would look like this:

I am trying to access tomcat database connection pools using hibernate. For some reason, I keep getting the following error:
