Hi all ,
I am getting the following error
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Document root element is missing
while building our application. Problem is the build file refers an XML which has Japanese character. If I remove those character the build is happening, which is not the right way. Herewith I am attaching the XML also. The XML is well formatted.
Kindly give me your suggestions to get rid of the problem. I am using Xalan 2.5.1.

The XML snippet is as follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<translations>
<entry>
<key>SITE_TITLE</key>
<error_number />
<translation lang="en">Sites</translation>
<translation lang="en_US">Sites</translation>
<translation lang="ja">サイト</translation>
</entry>
<entry>
<key>CREATE_SITE_TITLE</key>
<error_number />
<translation lang="en">Add a Site</translation>
<translation lang="en_US">Add a Site</translation>
<translation lang="ja">サイトを追加</translation>
</entry>
</translations>

Please reply ASAP.

Thanks in advance!
Oic, then Jeroen, how did u resolve the problem?
Could u please give some insight?

Hi Vijayendra,

Thanks for your response.

I have done the code walkthru and did not find any objects being created in the loop. We performed code optimization and removed such discrepancies during the process.

Increasing the Heap size also did not help.

I shall use the JProbe tool, as u have suggested, and try to figure the problem. Thanks!

Hi folks,

In my current project, We are experiencing various errors and system instability with Tomcat Server.

The error presents itself to the web client user as an Out of Memory exception when we are performing web searches and retrieving content. "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError"

When the errors begin to occur, it is found that restarting the Tomcat server seems to clear up the problem for a short period of time.

We increased the heap size (default size X 4) request but were receiving the Out of Memory errors so now have decreased to 2X's the default size. This seemed to decrease the frequency of the errors although they are still occurring. Default size is 256.

The Tomcat logs are filled with the following error:

2004-06-03 07:22:35 StandardWrapperValve[fdk-request]: Servlet.service() for servlet fdk-request threw exception

As part of the resolution process, I increased the HEAP size, but this did not solve the problem. This seems to be a memory leak and mainly due to some code which might be hanging onto object references and the garbage collector can't do its job.

Please let me know the remedy for this .
Also, please tell what are the other possible causes & perhaps remedies too.

Looking forward to early response.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Friends,
I have a set of 10 XML files. I apply stylesheet and transforming it into a word file using XSL-FO. Till this everythings is fine.
The word file is stored in the local file system. Note that rendering is done for each XML file in a loop and the transformed output is appended in the same word file. Now, while reading data from the word file using java - file input/output stream, it first encounters some junk characters like some header info. Also, since word file has data multiple XML files, this header info is getting repeated. Kindly, tell me a way to disable inserting the header info during transformation.
Please note that the XSL-FO file does not specify any header.
HOW TO AVOID HEADER IN THE OUTPUT FILE?
Its quite urgent. Kindly reply ASAP.
Thanks in Advance!

Hi Friends,
I am working in a Web Application project wich uses JSPs and servlets for GUI. It has varied types of pages with navigation bar on left hand side and the page details on the right hand side of the screen. The navigation bar has links to various pages. Also each page details part has tables with hyperlinks.
When a user clicks on a link, the request is passed from JSP to servlet and processing is done on the server end and the forwarded back to the JSP.
My requirement is to display the 'Hourglass' cursor on the browser when processing is being done and then revert back to default cursor - 'Arrow'.
Kindly help me out! Its very urgent.
Thanks in advance.

JSP
Thanks for your reply.

Well, kindly comment on the performance on these approaches.
1. Using 'include jsp'
2. using 'taglib'
3. creating a seperate utility class with the required methods and 'import' it in the JSP pages.
Thanks again!

Hello friends,
I am working on Servlet/JSP project. There are large no. of jsp pages. A common set of methods get repeated in all the jsp pages. Now my concen is to separate out the methods in a file and then use it in jsp page.
I have taken out the methods and created a separate jsp page and have included it in all the required JSPs. The other approach which comes to my mind is to create a simple java class with the common utility and importing it in JSPs.
Kindly suggest me the right path to follow, taking into consideration that we take up the optimized solution.
Please reply ASAP since it is quite URGENT !
Thanks in advance.

Hi Folks,
I am working on Java Advance Imaging to display "tif" images on browser(s). I have created an applet which gets loaded without any problem in IE accross SSL and performs the desired operations for viewing the images in a perfect manner. The problem is with Netscape. I have noticed that normally applet gets loaded in Netscape accross SSL when JAI is not used. But there seems to be some problem loading applets using JAI in Netscape accross SSL. The objective is to load applet & perform well in both the browsers accross SSL.
Its a very important & urgent assignment. Hence I would be very thankful, if you can help me out in this matter ASAP.
Looking forward for helping hands

Hi Friends,
I have an application in java and Xerces parser. This takes an XML Document as input and tries to read/extracts each node/tag and its corresponding value. Right now, I am using Node interface and no probs. I am able to navigate thru' Child nodes as well as Attributes names/values. But there is a requirement that we need to use TreeWalker instead. I tried to simulate things, but unable to get the desired result. I hope the problem is clear to everyone !
Sample file : myFile.xml
<myRoot>
<Employee id="E001">
<Name>xyz</Name>
<Age>25</Age>
<Address add1="a1" add2="a2">
<State>myState</State>
<City>myCity</City>
<Country>myCountry</Country>
</Address>
</Employee>
</myRoot>
Just give me a way to print each tag/node with value, whether it is attribute or child or whatever, using the methods of the interface TreeWalker.
Plz. respond ASAP, b'cos it is very urgent !
Thanks in advance.
Lakshmi.
Hi Folks,
I have a document and I am generating an XML from that by extracting each line using BufferedReader. Now my requirement is to change this so that it uses an InputStream instead of a BufferedReader . The reason for this is to avoid a possible overflow with the BufferedReader.
Please help me out ASAP,as I am unable to read a line with the methods provided by InputStream.
Thanks in advance.
