Hello,

I am SCJP and SCWCD Certfied. But I am unable to work on any developement projects in my company because there are very less developement projects. So I am trying to find a good project where I can use my java skills because I am forgetting java as the number of days passes by. Please let me know if there is any suitable project where I can contribute.

Hello,

I am confused as to how to work on GridBagLayout. Below is the sample code that i have tried ..

GBC is a customised class which extends GridBagConstraints and is defined
as

On running the above code I find that button 5 is covered by button 4 and is not displayed at all. On investigating I find that if I remove mentioning gridwidth and gridheight then button 5 gets displayed.

Please help to understand how to get around this problem.

Hello,

I am not able to understand why a local variable is required to be declared final for a local inner class. Please let me know with an illustration.

Hello friends,

I am a beginner Web Services. I would like to take SCDJWS but have no idea where to start from. Could you please guide me as to which books and notes I need to consider that would be proper both for preparing for the exam and learning in depth.
Hello,

I would like to prepare for SCBCD 5.0 but not sure which book to try with .. i hv HFEJB, SCBCD by Paul Sangakara but I guess these woul be for SCJP 3.0. Do you think i can use for 5.0 as well? I also jave Mastering EJB 3.0 and EJB3 in action. Any suggestions would be a great help.
Hello,

I have cleared SCWCD 5.0 with 82%. I studied from the famous Head First JSP and Servlets and from SCWCD Exam Kit by Hanumanth Deshmukh. I have also practiced mock exams from the net and purchased a simulator from Wizlabs. I did well in all the sections except for design patterns and deployment because the score is a little low. But I was satisfied and would recommend the above two books to anyone preparing for SCWCD. There is also another book which has come out written by Charles Lyons. I would considering preparing for SCWCD 5.O upgrade exam 084 from that book. Cheers!!!

ok I am actually preparing for SCWCD and one question I came across is "if jsp:root is mandatory to create a jsp document " so I tried out the above code including and exclusing jsp:root ... so what I am actually trying to understand is if jsp:root is that ca we create a jsp docuemt without including jsp:root?
I do not understand your question. As per my knowledge this happens to be the JSP document syntax which starts with JSP root. But is this necessary too include in the document or can we create a document without including this jsp:root tag?
Hello,

Could you please tell me if jsp:root is mandatory to be declared in a jsp document like

when I execute the above code I get the following:

When I execute the above code without jsp:root I get the following output:

Does this mean that in order to produce a jsp document it is not necessary to include jsp:root tag since there is no compilation error or is it necessary the former format where the output was obtained in html format.

Please help!
I have a confusion regarding configuring listener elemenets in web.xml when it comes to HttpSessionActivationListener, HttpSessionBindingListenr and HttpSessionAttributeListener. Some places that say that there is no need to register them in deployment descriptor while others say that reg. is not required only for HttpSessionBindingListener. Please let me which is correct.

Hello,

I have tried the following code to turn off EL on the jsp page by writing the following in the web.xml

But while evaluting the expression ${2*3} in the test.jsp page I receive the answer 6.

This means the EL is evaluted or else I would have received just ${2*3}

Please let me know if I am going wrong somewhere
