Paul Sturrock wrote:Which version of NTLM were you relying on? Pre-Windows 7 Windows allowed the very insecure NTLMv1 by default and you had to manually configure the OS to use the only slightly more secure NTLM v2. Now Windows uses v2 by default, and I think recommends Kerberos instead.

What do I need to do with Kerberos to help me solve the issue? I assume I need to find an equal decoder similiar to sun.misc.BASE64Decoder for NTLM Authentication.
Probably Apache Codec could help but not sure where or what to use that would work with NTLM v2.

Please advise.

Thanks

JSP
For the past several years I have a JSP (working with MVC) using sun.misc.BASE64Decoder for NTLM Authentication to fetch Intranet Windows Username for anyone who is using a workstation with Windows XP.
I use Tomcat 6 on a Windows server and everything worked great.
Recently some of our workstations have been upgraded to Windows 7. The Windows 7 workstations now show the following message on my JSP that is attempting to get the Intranet Windows Username: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

No other error message and nothing in Tomcat logs on the server. Has anyone else had this issue with Windows 7 and NTLM Authentication?
Please advise.

I have NetBeans at my desktop. I dont think I got the correct edition because I need to build JSP/Servlets.
The NetBeans download offers Java SE, JavaFX, and Java editions. I assume I need the one called Java edition for developing JSP/Servlets? Right now I think I have the Java SE edition and it doesnt seem to offer the Java Web development option when I choose new project.

Please advise if we should download Java edition that includes Java Web and EE or is there a plug in I can get to get the Java Web and EE added to the Java SE edition?
I am using JavaMail to send the emails out and it always worked in the past.
The & is the issue that is causing it to now work now. How do I handle that character in my String array using JavaMail?

Thanks, that worked for my JSP.

The Java class for my email program still is not working.

None of the emails got sent because of the & issue with the first array value.
The email program does work if I eliminate the email with the &.

Here are my attempts:

I also tried double escape slashes and it still not working.

I would like to serialize some data output.

Is this the right direction to serialize my output?

Do I need to load or install extra classes in my Tomcat 6.0.24 container to do this?

I added the JAX-WS 2.1 libary and attempted Run again and got the following message:

I have NetBeans 6.7 on Tomcat 6.0.20.
I have built regular Web apps with NetBeans and Tomcat 6.0.20, but now I want to build my first Web Service client using the demo that comes with NetBeans called StockQuoteClient.

After I hit the Run command I get the following failed message:

Do I need to load something to make this work?

In the past I had no problems manually creating JSP/Servlets and classes using command line and notepad with no IDE using Tomcat 6.0.20. Now I am creating my first Web site with NetBeans 6.7 and want to start with just creating a JSP HelloWorld web page.

Here is what I selected in my attempt:
- File
- New Project
- Java Web
-Web Application

Project Location: C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.20\webapps
Project Folder: C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.20\webapps\HelloWorld

I then selected Java EE 5 for the Java EE version.

I dont want to use any frameworks so I hit the finish button.
After I hit the finish button I see the HelloWorld web application and right click on it to select Run.
It runs and then gives me the following message and eliminates the HelloWorld folder from the webapps folder:

I opened the properties and browsed to the web pages folder and still get same message.

Please advise.
Please advise best way to send email message that is taken from a JSP form textarea entry.
I just need guidance to lead me in the right direction.

Ulf Dittmer wrote:No, POI does not make use of Office (or any other installed application). I've put some sample code for reading PPT files at http://faq.javaranch.com/java/ReadPowerPoint.

Thanks for your quick reply. That is great info.
Will the sample code work with PowerPoint 2007 .pptx file? According to the POI project site the .pptx is not OLE2 based.
I would like to convert a powerpoint to html to show as a web page.
I assume I should use POI (http://poi.apache.org/slideshow/index.html).

Do I need powerpoint loaded on my Windows server to convert powerpoint to html using POI?
In my Tomcat 6.0.20 container, I have a form value that works great except if the user enters quotes in the form input. Anything in quotes wont show up.
For example if they enter: Here is the "info"
The form value would only show: Here is the

Input example that wont work with quotes:

If I use tick instead of quotes it works and shows anything in quotes:

Please advise why this is happening and if there is an alternate solution to this issue?
