Thanks Paul.

Actually I am still a little confused on what to take. I am targetting OCPJP 8 (not yet 11).

To be very clear, am I having no choice now and would need to take the following 2 exams?

If yes, what is the best book out there for preparation?

Thank you!
Hi all!

With the Upgrade to Java SE 8 OCP ( Java SE 6 and all prior versions) now retiring on this day, 29, Feb 2020, I would like to ask what is the alternative certification path to getting OCJPJP 8?

PS. Sorry if this may have already been answered in another post. It's been awhile that I was away from the ranch.

Thank you in advance!
Belated Happy 12th Birthday Javaranch!! And thank you for being a great place to learn!! :-)

I was pouring over the last chapter of Kathy and Bert's Head First Java (RMI chapter) while trying to run the RMI example but wasn't successful . I hope someone could give me a walkthrough (more complete steps) on how to make the sample run. (I'm a beginner on this topic)

ps. Is it possible to make it run on only one machine?

Hi Guys,

I'm currently preparing for SCWCD. I've only got barely 1.5 month (8 weeks) to prepare as I'm already booked for the exam on mid-January.

Please advise what is the best way to review when using HFSJ 2nd edition? Do I just have to read it as many times as I can? (of course with good understanding) Looks like the code samples in the book aren't that complete for you to run them.

Hey Aries,

Just to reiterate, take this excerpt from the K&B book Introduction: "The Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) exam is considered one of the hardest (if not the hardest) in the IT industry..."

Kathy and Bert just wrote a book that would cover the topics on one of the toughest certifications you can see in the industry. And you've just cleared this exam.. Again.. Congratulations dude!! -Jart Bo
