Hi,

Thanks Mary.
Thanks Cameron.

I know from our offline conversations that you were working hard, so there was never any doubt in my mind that you'd rock the exam.

That was very nice thing to say, Cameron.

I'm glad that my books could play a small part in another SCJA candidate's success story.

Truly speaking your books played a major part in my success story, other resources were just used to the minimum.

Regards,
Kanaka
Hi,
Today I passed the SCJA exam.
All thanks to Cameron and this forum.

For preparation I used:
1)Both Cameron McKenzie's books (SCJA exam guide and model questions)
2)SCJA.de ebook (.pdf file with sample questions)
3)uCertify preparation kit (this also came handy to deal with certain concepts)
4)Trial version of whizlabs
5)Enthuware's trial version(try this only at the end when you are confident in all the topics)
6)Bruce Eckel's Thinking in java (to build confidence on oops and other topics)
7)Other free sample model exams.

Get your concepts clear on all the objectives of the exam, then you can pass with good score.
Hope this information is useful.
All the best !

Kanaka
Hi,
Enthuware's JAss trial version is very tough, do you think we will get questions similar to this in the exam...
Please advise

Thanks
Kanaka
Hi Carlos,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I already bought the scja.de ebook(.pdf file) which has 200+ sample questions, it is very useful and cheap also for 5.99 Euro, you can also try.

Model Exam Questions Answer 9-3(Pg 200)

double d=v.elementAt(0);
If we dont add the <Double> to the Vector keyword, it doesnt compile at all, so that is a must, apart from that the autoboxing converts the instance of the object to float or double, so this would be one of the correct answers.
Am I right?

In your next question's answer (9-4), the answer you have given is Double d=(Double)v.elementAt(0); which does'nt work either.
I think the correct answer should be

Float f=(Float)v.elementAt(0); and/or
float f=(Float)v.elementAt(0);
What do you say?

Thanks
Kanaka

Thanks Mary.
Thanks Cameron.
I will take the exam in this month end.

Hi Cameron,
The following code snippet works fine

Vector<Double> v=new Vector<Double> ();
v.add(10.9);
double d=v.elementAt(0);

In your book(Mock Exam Questions: Pg 200) you have said this will not work.
Please correct me if Iam wrong.

Thank you
Kanaka
Hi,
In the exam if we have to choose more than one answer, will the information be provided as to how many are correct, for all such questions?
Please reply.

Thanks
Kanaka
Hi Cameron,
Your mock exam questions book I bought(from Amazon for $34+) before the study guide.
Thanks for suggesting the site for sample questions.

Kanaka
WOW!! What an explanation...
Its cool to learn this way, now Iam sure I will not blunder variables and interfaces in the exam
Thanks Cameron.

Kanaka
Hi Cameron,
In your book you have said interface cannot have instance variables, can you please tell what you mean by that, as variables can be declared in interfaces, so what is it we cannot declare.
Please explain.

Thanks
kanaka
Hi Ritu,
Thanks for the advise, but I have already taken your free trial and find it very good, but the kit too expensive and the 50%discount now you show in your site doesnt apply to me.

kanaka
Hi,
Apart from Whizlabs, and sun's ePractice sample questions(which doesnt get downloaded for me as for creating new account it asks for a state in US and Iam residing in Singapore)
are there any other sites where we can download free mock exams, I have purchased uCertify kit for exam preparation, is it good, has anybody tried it.
Please advice

thanks
Kanaka
Hi Cameron,

I had ordered your book(SCJA Study guide) on 31 oct and was expecting it by 6 nov, but now I got an email saying the delivery date has been postponed to 16nov.
Can you help me in this matter. I really want the book urgently as I am going to take the exam in this month end. If there is anyway you can help me in getting the book sooner, I will be greatful.

Thanks
Kanaka
