I have the scjp2 and soon will be done with the scjd. I have some exp with java, and other technologies. (like vb)
I have seen more entry-mid type people in vb getting placed and as more companies will be changing to the .Net environment my java could be leveraged to good effect with c#. I care about speed of development and see that .Net could potentially make it much faster to program. The GUI is easy and some of the server side seems to be simpler. Have others looked into this? Is it too early to try to make such a leap? Wait to see what issues with .Net come to light? So much hype it is difficult to separate the wheat from the chaffe.
My other idea was to set up my own website to display my project work. I have done this in the past when I knew much less and it seemed to have met with good response. I saw an example posted here ealier and was impressed.
Or work on getting the next certs like XML or the server one. Which first? Right now servlets are fresher in my memory so I could maybe get that cert in a couple of weeks?
Have also looked into volunteering into sourceforge.net but that does seem intimidating. It would look good on my resume though, and would keep me programming on intereting things, maybe better than the toy programs I would come up with.
Eventually will probably do all of them. But which is of the most immediate use?
What will lead to a job?
PS really curious to what you guys know of C#. It is intereting b/c it is the only language developed with the .net platform and therefore to fully use the capabilites of .net c# may be supior to vb.net (although both really are very similiar in capabilities-moslty just syntax diff right?)
