Hi,

I'm facing a problem with iReport. The problem is that the detail band is repeating depending upon the number of items in a transaction. For instance, if transaction 10 has 3 items, the detail band repeats 3 times spreading over 3 pages. And all the 3 pages hold the same data which shouldn't be the case. If there are 5 transactions with varied number of items under them, then all the 5 transactions should appear. But in this case, there are 15 pages generated with the same 5 transactions repeating again and again. For your information, the items under each transaction are generated through a sub report. I created a sub report to fetch the items for a particular transaction number and calling the same in the main report. Actually there is no direct connection between the transaction number and the items displayed. But not sure why the output is dependent upon the items in each transaction. Can anyone help me in this regards? Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you!
Hello Henry/Marco,

What are intrinsic locks and condition variables? Could you explain me with an example so that I can understand it better. I'm not able to understand the whole concept of multiple locks, intrinsic locks and condition variables. Would you mind to explain me how these methods work or direct me to a link or a book where I can clearly understand these concepts.

Thanks!
Hello All

We have the methods wait(), notify() and notifyAll() in the Object class and on the other hand we have await(), signal() and signalAll() methods in the Condition interface. How are these methods different from one another? I mean does wait() and await() solve the same purpose? Can anyone explain when each method should be used and what's the basic difference between wait() and await()?

Thanks a lot!
Hello Ranchers,

I'm new to JSF and trying to learn the concepts through examples. I have an application where I would like to validate the user input on a JSP page. I'm using validateLongRange tag to validate 3 fields. Each field is having a maximum and a minimum value and I want to fetch these values from the faces-config.xml

How do I declare the maximum and minimum ranges in the XML? As there are 3 fields, how to identify the max and min of each field in the XML? Is there a way out for this or do I need to hard-code the max/min values in the JSP page? Can anyone please help me in this regards?

Thanks!

Yeah SeethaRaman, you got it right. Even I don't want to take the user input again. But am not knowing how to get the calculated stuff of first two bean classes into the third one. Do you have any idea how to get it?

Hello All
Can anyone help me? You can read the thread to get a gist of the problem am facing.

Even after changing the scope to session, I'm facing the same old problem. Instead of the excepted result, am able to display 0 which is wrong. I'm not sure if the respected methods are getting called because am not passing any method parameters while calling. And still am not getting any errors. And if I try to pass any parameters then am getting errors(actually the IDE is not accepting any parameters for that method call). How should I go ahead from here? Kindly help me !!!

Yeah Martijn, will go through those contexts and see if my problem gets solved. Thanks a bunch for helping me ! I found a way out for this problem. Thanks again !!!

It's not a matter of static methods or instance methods. It's something like this:

Here both the method parameters are being fetched from the user, i.e. they are getting passed from servlet after querying. So if I have to call those methods in C class then I should again pass the parameters(or ask the user to enter) which is redundancy. I want to avoid this as if I pass again I need to calculate the whole lot again. How should I go ahead from here? Can you please show me a way out ? Hope I explained you the context to some extent.

Hi Martijn
I'm calling the bean classes from servlets and so am importing bean classes in servlets. Also both the classes A & B are independent, not related in any way. And I din't understand which members you are referring to here. Can you suggest me how to solve this?

Hi Ranchers
I'm facing a problem in fetching/passing calculated data from a bean. Actually I'm calculating some stuff in a bean, accessing that through a servlet and then displaying the calculated data using JSP/JSTL on the browser. Now there are 2 such bean classes which calculate separately and I want to access these two bean classes in another bean class and display the final result on the browser. It's something like this - say Bean class A does addition of 2 nos, Bean class B does subtraction of 2 other nos. Now Bean class C should fetch class A's sum, class B's subtraction and perform mutiplication on both these and display result on browser. This is easy if values are constant but the values here are being passed by user. Am using Prepared Statement(?) attribute to fetch data from user. So I cannot get the data again from the user and calculate the stuff.

How should I access calculated data of class A and class B without again writing a query or asking the user to enter values again or calculating again? Any possible way to get this? Kindly help, your help would be much appreciated !!! I'm struck with this.

Hi Peter, Jesper
I'm no longer facing this problem now. I have restarted my system and it again started normally. But am afraid if I would face it again, so as a caution I have took the back-up of the workspace. My OS is Windows XP, JDK version is 1.6 which is compatible with Eclipse. However, am not able to open eclipse from command line using the -clean switch. Hope I don't get that error again...fingers crossed.

Anyways, thanks a lot for responding soon. Will get back if I face any problems. Thank you !!!
Thanks a bunch Seetharaman ! Your work around is working perfectly. This was what I exactly wanted. Can I know how you got to know that we can get hours, minutes and seconds by such calculation? Am eager to know how it all worked. I just wish to know how getTime() method works and how we can calculate or extract the exact time from it. Is there any rule or method for calculating? I understood how you were calculating but I want to know why you did that calculation.

Anyways, thanks a lot again !

Thanks Rob ! This was a very big puzzle for me and without your help, I wouldn't have solved this problem.

Hi All
I'm unable to open Eclipse IDE. I'm getting an error that says "JVM Terminated Exit Code=-1" followed by a other details. I have no idea about this. Can anyone tell me what should I do to open Eclipse? Is it that my Eclipse IDE had crashed and I need to download again or does this has any solution? I'm working on a project which is in final stages and it's kind of urgent for me to get Eclipse to work.

Please kindly help me ! Your help would be much much appreciated !!!

Thanks a lot Steve ! I have done a silly mistake, I was trying to fetch data that was not present in the database. I realized it only after seeing your response. Thanks again, for the quick response !
