I'm trying to create an action for using JFreeChart within my application. What I'd like to achieve is to be able to use the action multiple times to create a pie chart each time I'm calling it. For this I'd have to be able to pass a HashMap (or any other complex type), that'll hold the values to be displayed in the pie chart, to this action. The action itself will then use the HashMap to create the desired pie chart.

Have you tried naming your .properties-file with a language specific suffix?
Something like package_en.properties should do the trick. I'm using the blank.war-file too and naming it this way worked for me.

Has anyone tried using the Connext Graph Plugin with the latest Struts 2 release (2.0.11.1)? I'm currently trying to get a piechart up and running but all I get from the flash-movie is the message "Loading data...". I even tried using the data from the original example at http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/gallery-data-27.php and http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/data.php but nothing changes.

Can you specify what you'd like to draw? If you're using Struts 2 maybe something like the JFreeChart Plugin or Connext Graph Plugin might be helpful for you.

Hi
I have this book :Struts design and Programming by Budi kurniawan. Its cover page is missing and it is not mentioned the version of struts anywhere in this book .So how can i get to know which version i am reading? It uses Servlets 2.4 and JSP 2.0 for struts application.

How come you don't have the cover page? At least when you're reading the rest you'd find more than a lot hints on what version of Struts he is using. Anyways - I don't want to be so harsh The book you've got is "Struts 2 Design and Programming". I've read it myself and it's currently the best Struts 2 book I know of.

If you'd like to get more into the details of Matt Raibles' comparison between those frameworks you can watch his presentation from the JavaZone 2007 conference at this website:
http://www.parleys.com/display/PARLEYS/Comparing+Java+Web+Frameworks?showComments=true

Also a more up 2 date version of the pdf linked at the Apache Struts website can be found here:
http://raibledesigns.com/rd/entry/comparing_jvm_web_frameworks_presentation
There you'll also find another pdf that includes comparisons for technologies like Flex, Grails, GWT and Seam.

Thanks - that's what I ended up with.

Hi guys,
I've searched for this but couldn't find a satisfying answer. Maybe I'm even thinking too complex and the answer is pretty simple. Anyway - I've got the following problem.

I've got a form with 6 fields (strings and integers - but that's not the point). The first 3 and the last 3 depend on each other. What I mean by that is that if either field 1,2 or 3 has a value the other 2 got to have a value too, while the other 3 (4,5 and 6) don't. Or you can turn it around and write something into field 4,5 or 6 and the other 2 have to be filled in, while 1,2 and 3 don't have to be filled.

Just so you know - I'm using XML-field-validators in Struts 2. I thought something like this might work, but didn't.

Maybe anyone of you has got an answer to that.
Thanks in advance.
