Hi Ranchers,

I am in the same case : I have downloaded the assignment from Prometric one month ago, and I'm ready to upload it but Sun / Oracle didn't send me any voucher (it's been 2 days I have requested it).

Now my testing center is proposing me to take the part 3 exam, they can enroll me today. I am residing in New Delhi, India and I am leaving tomorrow evening for France. I would like to take the part 3 exam before I leave because I won't have much time in France to do it.

Do you think I can take it before uploading part 2 since I can do it (I can even buy the part 3 voucher on Pearson Vue site) ?

Best regards,

Hi ranchers,

I happy to announce I passed SCEA part I yesterday with 85% of good answers.

I've been preparing the exam for around two month before actually taking it.

I based my preparation on Mark Cade SCEA and Humphrey Sheil study guide, which is vey concise book but very pertinent and useful.

I also got useful information from the JEE 5 tutorial and Mikalai Zaikin study guide.

I spent a lot of time reading different kinds of articles to better understand the technologies I was not knowing very well. Since I had a colleague preparing the exam as well we have been working together, challenging each other with questions, and this is also to me a motivating way to prepare for certification.

Now I start working on part II. There's not a lot of time remaining until the first of August.

Best regards,

Hi ranchers,

I've succeeded last friday to pass SCBCD. My result is humble, still I'm very happy to be now certified.

During the exam I was pretty confident, I think I have got trapped a few times, because I never had the feeling that I did not know the correct answer.

I used Enthuware mock exam for preparation + EJB 3.0 from Bill Burke & Monson-Haefel.

Enthuware is a very good tool, and the book is very well written and sharp in its explanations.

I have had a short practical experience with EJB 3.0 (a small application composed of a dozen of services and entities) which is important in order to better understand the behaviour of EJBs and to retain information that would be theoretical otherwise.

I worked on the exam in the evening, after my daily job for 2 or 3 months (a little EJB appetizer each evening), and I spent 2 full week-ends on it before the exam.

Mikalai Zaikin guide is also very nice to read as the finishing touch.

I plan to prepare now SCEA which was my goal from the beginning.

Best regards,
Eric
