Hi,

We are developing a commercial desktop app using java. It uses database heavily.
What would be the best database solution for commercial redistribution+ease of deployment?

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to your reply.

Is there any open source java server available that streams 3gp, mp4 and flv formats?
Most of 'em supports only one of the file formats.

Also, how difficult it would be to create one (if none of the current solutions supports this) using JMF?

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to your reply.

Congrats to all, especially to Ankit. I'm fortunate enough to work with him personally and I must say that if he knows something he knows everything about it. He sometimes solves the problems of people of other platforms like ASP.NET. When I ask him how the hell did you do that, he says that it was just a logical problem, nothing to do with programming language. Well, Great

Thanks for your help, Ankit!

I have an EJB web service (which uses @RolesAllowed on method level) and a RESTful web service on glassfish. I want to configure user authentication for both.

I want to log every every client calls into a log file. I want to log successful login, failed login and also log if the user is not authorized to call a specific EJB web service method based on the @RolesAllowed. What do I need to do for this?

I think there are two methodsto do this. Either I implement a custom realm in glassfish, but in that I don't know how I can log on the basis of @RolesAllowed. The other way is that if the user enters wrong login details, then she must be given access to my service as anonymous user and then I'll log the message in the service methods. What do you think about these approaches? Any other way to implement the login?

Any inputs are welcome.

Thank you for your time.

@Ivan Krizsan

Thanks for quick reply. Can you please specify an example where this has been done?

Hi,

Me and my friend are web developers for some time now. We are now moving into game development for cell phones.

Just wanted to know,

1. Is Java ME dead?
2. Will android games be a rage like iPhone in future?
3. Other then iPhone, is there any alternative where we can make good money?

Please help.

Thank you for your time.

{Thanks Ankit for hint }
Although I don't know much about it, still IMHO, this may help-

1.
http://www.jboss.org/file-access/default/members/jbossas/freezone/docs/Server_Configuration_Guide/4/html/Additional_Services-The_Timer_Service.html
http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnboy.html

2. From the docs,
A Timeout method can have public, private, protected, or package level access. A Timeout method must not be
declared as final or static.

4. No (I think).
