Hi Seetharaman,

Thanks for your answer. I checked the versions of JSP, servlet and JSTL and everything is OK (Servlet 2.4 and JSTL 1.1 using Tomcat 5.5).
The rest of the code that uses EL and JSTL works fine. Just fails when I compare Character attribute with a char constant 'R'.

Thanks,

Javier

Hi,

I have a JSP using JSTL. It works fine in Tomcat 6. But when I try to use it in Tomcat 5.5 ${status == 'R'} fails. status is type Character and the error says that

javax.servlet.ServletException: An exception occured trying to convert String "R" to type "java.lang.Long"

Is this a bug?

Thanks,

Javier

I used Hibernate and JPA and a little of Toplink. But I never used JDO and I don't know how it is. Do yo cover JDO in you book and how it is related with the other ORM technologies specially wich is the diference with JPA?
Hi,
I used jexcelapi whit excellent results http://jexcelapi.sourceforge.net/

The statement is correct. You can't use custom tags inside attributes of other tag.
You can use EL there (if you configure so in the tld)
Nop,
The i variable is not visible in EL. You only can use attributes in EL. To do that you can use JSTL (Standard Tag Library) ForEach tag.
Hi, you can use this body content (JSP) for standard custom Tags not for simple custom tags. The tld file doesn't diference this, but if you use JSP body content and implement simple custom tag class, you get an error.
So this body content works only for old fashoned custom Tags

SCWCD 5
Hi,

ServletContextListener listen aplication start up and destroy events, not session o request events.
Only a is correct. You need a tld for simple custom tags. You don't need a tld if you work with tag files. (You need a special tld for Tag files if you pack them in a JAR)

SCWCD 5
Hello everybody, I'm new in this forum. I passed SCWCD 5 last week.

I found some mistakes in the test. Does anybody know how to report them?

I used Head First Servlets and JSPs and Enthuware sims. I read the specs (just a look) and Manning SCWCD EXAM STUDY KIT for some topics (Dynamics attributes and jstl)

There are some HTML related questions in the new exam that I didn't expect.
