Thompson Technologies is seeking a Java Team Lead for a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Team Lead must be able to lead teams in an Agile / Waterfall environment, be knowledgeable from both a holistic architecture standpoint as well as be detailed enough to coach/lead others in this arena.



Requirements:

Minimum 5+ years experience in Java Web Development. 2 years experience in a technology or digital media start-up a plus.
Proven ability to lead a team of developers in an Agile / Waterfall environment. This includes ability to mentor, train, coach development team for career pathing and job satisfaction improvement.
Experience creating and supporting large-scale high availability websites, e-business portals and marketplaces in B2B and B2C environments.
Technology background must include the following experience:

Extensive experience with Java/J2EE

Ability to identify gaps in existing technology/processes and implement solutions
In-depth knowledge of performance tuning enterprise level applications.
Experience with transaction processing and/or PCI compliance is a plus.
Previous experience with transaction/payment processing or financial services (pre-paid card, bank card, credit card) a plus.
Experience integrating with third party APIs specifically Credit Card Processing, Fraud management, content management, etc.
Knowledge of code review processes, ability to complete constructive code reviews, and document output for actionable tasks.
Experience in navigating cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

Assessment of current technologies, product development and designs.
Creation of an integrated, multi- year technical roadmaps to meet customer needs.
Migration plans for existing technologies, applications and platforms (grandfathering, sunset, end of life).
Definition and development of integration design patterns and standards.
Definition and design of application development patterns and standards in support of MVC (model view control) based on a J2EE platform.
Definition and design of middleware technologies that encompass: presentation, security, business logic, data warehousing and business intelligence architectures.

Responsibilities:



Assist Design Engineers in development of Software Specifications utilizing design constructs and standards.
Integration of modules into based subsystems.
Provide technical support to Manager.
Utilize creative problem solving skills to quickly and effectively resolve programming issues.
Investigate oddities in performance results to determine underlying cause.
Develop moderate to difficult SAS software modules based on detail design specifications and product enhancement needs.
Define process logic and develop SAS program code from scratch, building in appropriate auditing.
