Hello Friends,
Its been really long since my last post.
It feels really great for me to let you know that I have cleared SCDJWS 1.5 today.
I've been preparing for this exam for the last 1 year. And now, I've accomplished it.
If you want, I can share my learning experience.
Best of luck to you all, too.

Hello Slobodan,
Thanks for your feedback. These will really help me.
Thanks again and congrats to you .
Ankur
Congrats Slobodan.

I am also preparing for this exam.

I practically have null knowledge in web services.

I have started getting acquainted with the standards like SOAP, REST etc. from the w3school.

I have also had a look at the book Java Web Services: Up and Running at Amazon.

My question is whether I should read this book? To me it seems to cover some part of the
objectives for this SCDJWS 5 exam.

Please suggest.

Thanks and Regards,
Ankur
Hi,
Does this mean that the actual DJWS 5 exam is coming soon enough?
Hi Ankit,
Thanks for your appreciation. But don't take it as ONLY 15 days. hehe.
It took me some time to prepare for all of these.

Thanks again.

Hi all,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions and links.
About the links, this one didn't work actually:
I talked about the books here: https://coderanch.com/t/419089/java-Web-Services-SCDJWS/certification/RMH-SCJWSD-Beta.

And while we are on this topic, I have one more query.

While I was preparing for BCD, I first prepared from HF EJB 2.0, then I came to know its BCD 5, i.e., EJB 3.0 that I should get prepared for the new exam. And then EJB 3.0 was a lot different from EJB 2.0.

Now in case of DJWS, if I start with a book for SCDJWS for J2EE 1.4, and when a book for SCDJWS for J2EE 1.5 is out, I patch up with it, is it possible? I mean Web Services for J2EE 1.5, is it completely a makeover of Web Services for J2EE 1.4, or is it like some new things added to the old one and some enhancements?

Can you please suggest?

Thanks and Regards,
Ankur
Hi all,
And sorry for the late reply.
As I said before, I was preparing for all 3 of these exams for some time now.

In my office place, I mostly have to work with Core Java and some Swing stuff.

So SCJP was something that already was on the track.
For the other two exams I had to do practice on my own.
I knew Web technology(JSP/Servlet) before but not that deeply.
EJB was dead new to me(apart from my knowledge that something with this name existed in the java world).

I took the preparation a bit in the reverse way.
I studied EJB 2.0 first. I followed the Head First book(awsome).
Then I studied JSP Servlet. I followed the Head First one here as well.
I was studying the Kathey/Bert book of SCJP 5 in parallel with the other two.

After I completed the EJB 2.0 book, I came to know that the BCD 5 was there and it was on EJB 3.0.

I consulted the ranchers here for some suggestions and had some really good ones. So I started up again with "EJB 3.0 in Action".
It looked something totally different from EJB 2.0 at first but then slowly it all started making sense.

After I was quite confident about all 3 exams, I went for the mock exams and the short exams that you find in the faq section of this forum.

And I took 3 of them one after the other.

Now I am thinking to prepare for SCDJWS. I've heard that the beta 5 exam is out. If you people know if the v.5 exam is soon to come by, please let me know. And also recommend me a good book on this. I posted this request in the SCDJWS forum as well. Sorry I mentioned it here.

So this was how I prepared for the exams.

Thanks a lot once more for all your appreciations.

Hi all,
Thanks a lot for all your appreciation.
I will defenitely like to let you know about my preparation.
However, I will do that from home. Currently I was having a quick glimpse at the forum from my office.
After I get back home I'll definitely tell you all.

Hi,
I've been thinking to take SCDJWS for some time now. However, in Sun's site, I still find the exam to be for J2EE 1.4 only.
I've seen some posts here in this forum discussing the SCDJWS 5 beta exam.
Can anyone confirm me whether the v.5 exam is on the way and soon be available?
And while we are on this topic, can you please suggest me some good books for this exam. I had great help from java ranch before I took SCBCD 5. So I guess I'll get some useful info this time as well.

Thanks,
Ankur
Hi,

SCWCD 5 - 95% - 03th Nov 2008
SCBCD 5 - 90% - 10th Nov 2008

Thanks,
Ankur

Hi,
I need to connect to the LiveLink server and get and upload documents. The LAPI(LiveLink API) is not available over the net . Can anyone tell me how to connect to it. Can we connect using URLConnection? Or if the LAPI is available somewhere, please let me know.

Thanks,

Christophe,
Thanks a lot for telling me that my knowledge of ejb 2.0 will be useful.
(And sorry for I didn't know that shorttyping is malpractice here )

Bert,
Thanks for your real life suggestion. And could I ask if we can have HF EJB 3.0 in near future?
Hi Christophe.
Thanks a lot 4 the suggestion.
Just one more thing 2 know:
Will my knowledge of ejb 2 help me in anyway 4 the exam.
Hi,
I'm new to JavaRanch. I've read some of the topics here on BCD books.
But as my question is a bit specific, I'am writing it in a new one.

I've completed Head First EJB 2.0.
But now that I found that the exam is for EJB 3, I'm a bit puzzled.
Now, why am I puzzled is because the way the HF book was written.
I'm kind of addicted to the presentation there. So if now I need to adapt to EJB 3 for the exam, could I consult a book (or even some e-material) that's as friendly as HF.(and why on earth is there no HF EJB 3?)

And if there is none like that, could anyone suggest that is good for adapting EJB 3. I've seen lot of people suggesting "EJB 3 in Action". Is it a good read.

Thanks in advance.
