Campbeeeell... Greeeggg.... Maneeeeesssh Hi my people I missed you all.. how is life going there?

I am just reading and reading about this web stuff... its not about Java.. its about many things in concert!

Anyway... I just wanted to say hi... and bye.. lets dig more ...

Thats great...I mean to understand this point is important... now I will focus on web development.. Thank you all

..and Maneesh, isnt there a performence concern with web applications? I couldnt put clearly.. I mean; in desktop applications we dont have a performance concern like we have with web applications....so we can very much comfortably develop programs that have high level of interactivity... for instance we can have a table with editable cells and prompt program responses for the cell changes... but in a web application we must be "considerate" in resource consumption much more than that of desktop applications...

If you already have projects developed in Java as desktop applications, to use Web Start is fine (but still just for some time... later we must rewrite the programs with a more fitting philosophy for web)

Thats how I think..Am I wrong?

Hi again, I have a general question... here in Turkey, the people(actually a couple of people) using Java, "strongly" recommend not to spend time and energy for application development, swing and relevant stuff, and also they recommend to focus on web based programming in Java... What is your opinion? Those guys are tough professionals.. at least I am sure about one of them... and they are actively in business world.. for some reasons I am docked for a long time and for now I dont work actively.. I am interested in Java just to keep my self alive and uptodate.. If professionally its not demanded, so maybe its better to really focus on web programming...
How do you think?

Rob hi it was irrelevant to Java, I just wanted to say hi and welcome to another Turk showed up here... so I thought that it wouldnt be welcomed here to place irrelevant replies.. because of this reason I preferred to send a pm.. but if its ok, its ok with me as well..

Ekrem hi, yesterday I have sent a private message, which looks still unread today.. Do you want to check your private messages?..

Hi everyone, I know its trivial, but I cant pass.. I wonder why and I coudnt find out..

Just to try GridBagLayout, I wrote a very simple program.. When I use BorderLayout it shows the title of the JFrame object("Sağlayıcı Firma Girişi"), when I use GridBagLayout it doesnt! Why? If you have any idea and share it with me, I will be happy. Thank you

Here is the code:

Anu hi again my dear, I do apologize for mistakenly misleading you .. An array begins with 0th element and I was wrong in my comment.. Please disregard it.

Ok, from now on I wont be "good" for others for some time.. its rather harmful for I am still a newbie!

Anu hi

I think the problem is that; in the line

with the specification "loca[i]", you try to use an array element
with an index number 0... An array cant have 0th element...
Its because, at the beginning of your for loop, your index i is
starting with the value 0...
I think, somehow you must avoid using 0th element in the array..
Then the problem drops automatically

Have a beautiful day..

PS: Codase is not uptodate.. rarely, but possibly as well, you can see that some specifications are absent.. the more uptodate resource (but tha one that doesnt include code samples) is this

Carlos hi

I am a newbie too, but your words gave me an impression that you use mouse pressed event... instead of mouse clicked (which means "pressed and released").. is it the question? If yes, by changing MOUSE_PRESSED to MOUSE_CLICKED, your problem may drop.

For APIs I benefit this link.. there I can find relevand codes as well.

People, is there anybody around you that passed to a totally irrelevant field in later ages? And succeeded and happy?
There are some people, yes, but somehow their circumstances are very much supportive.. I didnt see someone from mainstream that could do this...
I have had a challenging life and could do many things on my own... but I cant be sure whether in my age (42) is it still possible in todays world..

lol@myself

Joe, actually I meant profession, but yes, you are right.. domain knowledge is another value... but it has a negative side as well, as you become more dependent to that specific organization... I develop ties (though the point is whether THEY develop ties with me! hahaha..), but also I like to feel free and its much more healthy to work for an organization with your free will, not because you are obliged to... of course if you can efford!

As we age, the thing we can sell is more and more our quality in that specific field... whatever it is... if you are a beginner, why shall the management hire you, instead of a fresh one?
So there must be either a beginning from scratch in a field -which justifies your effort in some way-, or a transition to a neighbouring field -like management in an IT environment for a software pro-, in which you still use, and not just still use, but MAINLY use your earned skills..

Am I wrong?
