Is it possible to take PMP without management experience ?

I am in search of project management certifications which don't expect one to have already served as a project manager. I see PMP but it asks for prior project management experience. I have been a team lead but don't have project management experience. Are there any known certifications that meet my needs ?

I'll be traveling to boston next satday. What all I need to carry with me ? I googled for checklists but I didnt get any good one that is specific to boston climate.

One person says I should carry snow goggles other says its not necessary, one person says I need to carry thermal wear others say good woolen clothes are sufficient and whether there are anything else in this list I still do not know.

Anyone who has been to Boston or know the details help me out , please ?

Though I haven't worked on the production support activities, all that I can say is:

You can place yourself in a better position if
1. Your manager can speak for you and convince the higher authorities. Most often, I have come across dumb managers who cannot handle such situations.
2. You or someone up in your hierarchy, who is technically known for his/her expertise can speak out and convince the senior management.

If you are the only person working on the project (or even a junior person) then it would be very tough to handle such situations. Specially when the other team enjoys certain privilege/favoritism over your team.

1. Is the offer letter by email sufficient to put down the papers or it's advisable to wait till the HR sends the hard copy ?
2. Is an offer letter sent by email legally not valid in India ?

Is this a common experience?

It has been common experience these days. Even if you send your profile without asking any questions, still, don't expect any call/email from the consultant. A few years back, the consultants used to acknowledge the receipt of the resume and they used to keep the candidate updated. In fact, some were so good that they used to develop PR (as pointed out by Henry).

The consultant who referred me to my present company is still in touch and he sends greetings for festivals and keeps sending new openings available with them.

As already pointed out by someone, I think there are few good players in the market. Most of the current head hunters are very dumb. It might sound exaggerating as I say this. Recently, my friend got a call from a consultant. My friend asked him the job description but the consultant hardly had any idea. He always mentioned about the technologies but nothing about the JD. As my friend says, he kept repeating the statement that there is huge requirement from junior to very senior level positions. My friend wanted to know, for which position he is being considered but alas! the consultant had no idea.

Previously, head hunters used to read the resume and screen the candidates. Now its has become a dumb business where they appear to be paid for spamming and picking up 40 or 50 resumes by a lottery.

I plan to buy a new digital camera for personal use. I have been searching for sometime and was looking mainly at Sony and Canon and see that Canon Powershot SD950 IS has got a good feedback.

My budget is between 12,000 to 16,000 INR ($300-$400 Approx). I was wondering whether this is a good option or there are any other suggestions ?

Certainly agree with Sunit Gupta.

Precisely that is what I feel. Perhaps the right question should have been questioning about my level of expertise on Algorithms and Data Structures.

As this question is very frequent when consultants have been recruiting for some highly branded companies I still don't understand what I should say Yes or No to this question

Can you be more precise on what you mean by IT security and whom they plan to approach. Do they plan to launch a product or provide services ?

I am a java and J2EE developer. I received an email from a job consultant about an opening for an eCommerce company that sells books online. The consultant asked whether I work on Algorithms and Data Structures.

How to answer this ?

I am eager to know the work culture of software companies in Singapore.

I have heard from people that they try to get as much as they can from you without paying anything extra, people are supposed to work for 16 hours a day and blah blah. I am not clear whether those are facts.

Can someone share their experiences and what type of companies have good culture and which type of companies stress you more leaving you frustrated.

One more question. From India, is is possible to get a direct company offer in Singapore instead of going through consultants.

Now you know that he is trying to ignore you, if you wish to continue with the same consultant, pester him as much as you can. Drop emails, call him more than 3 or 4 times a day. He would get irritated by your behavior and do what you need or will respond to you
