One thing that always makes me wonder is what is a good criteria for selecting the number of exceptions to handle? Authors - your thoughts?

I think it should be a combination of both. The more levels of security, the better. For instance, the domain object could have constraints at the property level and the service could handle different types of exceptions.

Maybe creating a table with the properties file data? That way minimum information can be stored in the properties file to connect to the database.
