I urgently need help in setting up an application.
Assume my application is named testapp.
I have created the entry in resin.conf, <web-app id='testapp'>
I have made the required entries in web.xml.
The directory structure created is:
doc/testapp
doc/testapp/WEB-INF
doc/testapp/WEB-INF/web.xml
doc/testapp/WEB-INF/classes
doc/testapp/WEB-INF/classes/*.class
How do I reference a servlet or tag library from the URL?
Thanks in advance.

Using Resin, where can I find the translated JSP file prior to the compiled servlet.
Thanks in advance.
Please explain how i would configure more than one web application bearing in mind I would need two web.xml files. An example directory structure would help.
Thanks in advance
Can you do without the web.xml and define all the settings in the <web-app id=..... of the Resin configuration file conf.
Thanks in advance
I am trying to test the server program on my PC but do not know
the server name to enter at the client end to locate with the server program.
Any ideas please.
Hi All,
I have a few concerns on the server side.
1. How could I control the updates through the Vector say when one client is using a different database to another client.
2. Is the server suppose to be for one database?
3. When requests come in from the same client, does the server how would the server know not to create a new Data object previously created with the database location.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
This I feel is my last hurdle to overcome before submission.
Hi Sajid, thank for the comments.
I agree a single lock-tracking data structure such as making the Vector static, does that seem OK.
I am using a Vector over HashTable/HashMap because the server is in control of the locking not the client and so I dont need the client ID.
How could I control the updates through the Vector say when one client is using a different database to another client.
This I feel is my last hurdle to overcome before submission.
I have implemented the record locking control using a sync Vector in the Data class.
Just had a thought, when the request hits the server it spawns a thread, initially etc.. and creates a new Data object based on the location pathname. This would mean I get a new Vector object with every requests, this does not seem right does it.
Any help here please I would appreciate it. By the way using a Socket connection.
