A jsp page of mine need to parse an xml file. Below is the code snippet

The data.xml is in the same directory of this jsp file. But the jsp couldn't find the xml file and is raising the following exception..

java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\data.xml (The system cannot find the file specified)

I wonder why this is taking "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0" as its default directory. Please help me out.

Thanks

hey thanks for the reply, can you please elaborate your answer and help me out in knowing about those configuration settings in tomcat..and is that applicable only to web.xml file or any other configuration file that I use and is specific to my web app?

Hi

I was just testing if changes to web.xml file requires a restart of the web application to reflect the changes...for that I just created a jsp page and tried to give it a display name as below

i could see that serverpage.jsp opens well with this URL http://localhost:8080/MyWebApp/displayname. Now if I change the displayname to some other name and save the web.xml file, the new name became the display name for that jsp without any need of restarting my web application. I heard that such changes to web.xml actually will need to require a web application restart for the changes to reflect. If that is the case I have no clue how this worked without restarting the web app.

Otherwise, in case that.. changes to only some specific elements of the web.xml file requires the application restart..can you please list them out.

Thanks

Hello everybody.....i am a newbie to jsp. I just started writing a login page using jsp, partial code of which is given below.....
My requirement is that if there is no session exists.....it should show the login field table.....otherwise it should show welcom + usename by getting it from session.getAttribute....the action of the form is again the same jsp page for now...

Is this is the correct way of doin it or....any other way...the problem that I am facing if i do it in this way is that....after submitting the login form, the page will not be reloaded so...even if there is a session exists, again the login table is being displayed...so, if i refresh it once and see...a welcome message is appearing...

if at all i am forced to go in this way....how to automatically reload the page after submitting the login form....please help me in this regard
