Hi All,

Just some simple questions regarding Entity Beans:

1. Why the Persistent instance variables must not be declared as Public.
2. Can we declare the instance variables and methods final.

Could you please explain the second point with example.
Hi All,

Consider the example :

1. @DeclareRoles("BIDDER", "CSR", "ADMIN")
2. @Stateless
3. public class BidManagerBean implements BidManager {
4. @RolesAllowed("CSR, ADMIN")
5. public void cancelBid(Bid bid, Item item) {...}

I have some doubts like:

a) What do you mean by @DeclareRoles("BIDDER", "CSR", "ADMIN") annotation?
Is it means that these roles have created for the BidManagerBean bean and we can use these roles anywhere....
b) In order to use these roles defined as @DeclareRoles("BIDDER", "CSR", "ADMIN") , is it required to define these roles somewhere(in Deployment Descriptor)?
c) What is a relation between @DeclareRoles and isCallerInRole() method?
d) I read one statement that: if there are no roles defined in deployment descriptor then contaner will gather the roles by scanning @RolesAllowed annotation?
e) Which part of deployment descriptor (Security relared tags),we can compare to @DeclareRoles annotation ?

I'm rambling in wrong direction...

Please help me

Hi All,

From above discussion,is it means that whenever a CreditValidationException, CreditProcessingException, or DatabaseException is thrown, the transaction will be rolled back,even if the DatabaseException has set rollback=false?
Please help...............

I'm confused.............
Hi,

can we inject the Session bean into POJO using @EJB annotation?
HI,

Please explain me the diffrence between application server and web server.

Is application server contains web server already?
Hi all experts,

Actually, we have one project in java-swing , but has very weak performance.
So, we have decided to migrate it as web application(using j2ee).

So, it will improve performance or not?

would like to create an email message in Java and place it in a users outbox to be sent when the email client connects to a mail server. Here is the code I am now using:

Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start mailto:emailaddress@spam.com?subject=Test&body=Hello");

This creates a message window in Outlook and fills in the address and subject but does not send the message. I have to click on the send button to move the message to the Outlook outbox.

Is there a way to create an email message in Java and have a users default email client send it with out the user having to do anything?

Hi.........

This exception is because of opening that file in read only mode.
So, do one of the below:

1. Start-> Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Data Sources (ODBC) Then select your driver & click on configure, Then click on Options & uncheck the Read-Only option
2. connection = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbcdbcriver={Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls)};DBQ=C://Java_Excel//tip_of_the_day.xls; readOnly= false");

It will work.

No No No..........

Dear, I want to find the IP address of my machine that I'm current using, for auditing purpose.
Hi All,

I want to know thqt, is there any query that find a IP address of the Current machine?
Hi MG........

I got what you want to say.thanks.
But,
I know that Container reads the DD at start up. And DD also has the default values for their tags. So, if the annotations are in generated into java codes then at startup it needs to be replaced by values in the DD( or by default values ,if they are not initialized).

Finally, every time DD will replace values defined by annotations. Is it so?
I think no, then what is the correct flow?

Thank You....
