Hello All,

I've took the freedom to prepare a pdf document of the material provided by Maikalai Zaikin. Here is the link for the same http://www.mediafire.com/file/26p43slevx3ji4m/OCEWSD6_StudyGuide_MikalaiZaikin.pdf .

Happy Reading.

Hello all,

I'm using apache commons validation for validating my form.I have this case for which I'm not able to define the rule. I have 4 fields in the form, and the user has to fill in at least one before hitting the submit. How can I validate this?

Also I have a validation something like this in my validation.xml file

As you can see reworkHours depends on the reworked to be NOTNULL, actually I want the reworked field should have a "valid" value before validating the reworkHours field. So can I replace "NOTNULL" in the
<var-value>NOTNULL</var-value> with something which will in fact validate for say as an Integer instead of just NOTNULL.

Any help in the above two question would be really helpful.

Thanks.

Try out this example. This is for Spring MVC
Spring MVC Step-By-Step
OR
Simple Spring 3.0 Tutorial

Once you are done with this (2nd) tutorial, gong through a book will be a good idea. I suggest "Spring in Action".
All the best.

Thanks guys.

@Rajkumar: I don't have much idea about Spring annotations, but I'm interested in trying it. Can you direct me to a simple example. I did wrote a SimpleFormController (without annotations) in which I configured the Command name ,class, the form view and success view in the constructor something like this

Can you provide me with a sample code/tutorial for the about code in annotations. Thanks for your help.

Hello All,

I'm new to Spring MVC and trying out a simple project. It will contain a simple adding, viewing, updating and deleting user work flows. It will have login page and once authenticated the user will be taken to a welcome screen which will have links to add, view, update and delete users. Clicking on any of the links will take to individual pages where the user can do the specific tasks. What I'm doing here is, I'm using a MultiActionController to group together all requests related to User work flow. As the user cannot directly access the addUser.jsp file which is inside the WEB-INF folder, so the request from "Add User" link will handled by the addUser method in the UserController which will redirect the user to the "Add User" page, and the user can then fill in the details and save the new user. Now here is where I'm getting confused. Where should I put the save process of the new user, should I put that in new method inside UserController, or use the same "addUser" method. What is the best way to handle this kind of scenario. Can you provide me with some sample code. Thanks

I hope I was able to clear my question.

Thanks for the reply, I did update the hibernate.cfg.xml file and added this

the result was same, the code ran without errors and no table was created.

Hello All,

I'm not really sure if I can ask this question in this forum. Anyway, I'm trying to connect to a PostgreSQL db through hibernate 3 and create a simple table. I'm able to run the code without any error, but no table is getting created. Of course Hibernate related output are not getting generated. Here is the code.

and here is the hibernate.cfg.xml file

I'm able to run and create a table successfully against a MySQL server. Is there any thing wrong with the way the db is set up. Please do take a look at the screen shot.

Thanks,
Ravi
Hello All,

I have deployed a very simple Spring MVC application, whiah I have built following the Spring-MVC-step-by-step tutorial, and I'am getting this error "javax.servlet.ServletException: non-HTTP request or response" when I make a call to "http://localhost:8080/springapp/hello.htm". I'm deploying on jboss 5 and using Spring 2.5. Can you please help me out where I might be going wrong or any setting I have missed. Here is the complete error message:
