Hi,

I am using the book Web Services Essentials by Ethan Cerami for learning web services.

Examples given in chapter 6 WSDL requires using the Glue Product from http://www.themindelectric.com

When i tried the above URL, i am forwarded to http://www.softwareag.com

I didn't find the product Glue. so i am not able to work on the examples.

Please help me in getting the Glue product. Others who have gone through the same book please help.

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the info.

So that means even if we are not working on latest technologies then also we have chances of getting the job ?

I thought others who went to USA for Java / J2ee jobs would also share their experience.

Thanks in advance.

please help.

Hi,

I would like to know How is the Job market in USA for the Java / J2ee programmer now for 5 yrs experience candidate?

Is the skills Java, Jsp, Servlets, Struts 1.1, XML, XSL enough to get the job in USA ?

Those who went to USA in 2008, please provide your valuable input. How difficult was to get the job ?

Please let me know other mandatory skills which needs to be learnt to get a job.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

JavaRanch is a great website for resolving the technical issues.

Just wanted to know is there any website where we can discuss ideas & team up with others for a sample / simple java projects ?

I feel - "If you read a topic you may forget it, but if you work on a topic you will always remember it".

Thank you

The code is working fine now

I tested after removing other jsp code from the page.

I integrated with other code now & its working... I am not sure why it was not working earlier.

This is the first time these things have happened to me...

Even I tried It. I am getting Don't know how to iterate over "items" in <forEach> for the below code

<c:forEach var="item1" items="${map}">

<c:forEach var="i" items="item1">

${item1}

</c:forEach>

</c:forEach>

I am also looking for the answer related to <c:if> statement also.

Those who have cleared SCWCD & others who are planning to write SCWCD please help.

Hi,

I have 2 questions, first one related to <c:forEach> & the other related to <c:if>

1) String[] arr1={"one", "two", "three"};
String[] arr2={"1","2","3"};
Map map = new HashMap();
map.put("StringArray",arr1);
map.put("NumberArray",arr2);
request.setAttribute("map",map);

<c:forEach var="item1" items="${map}">
${item1}
</c:forEach>

This code does only the half, ie retrieves only the rows of the map.

How can we iterate through the map ?

2) <c:forEach var="item" items="one,two,three" varStatus="instance">
<c:if test="${instance.count} eq 3">
This is third instance
</c:if>

<c:if test="${item} == 'three' ">
this is three
</c:if>

</c:forEach>

The 'If' statements are not working.

Please resolve my queries.
Thanks
Hi,

I created a small Servlet where I enterd the synchronized block by obtaining the lock on ServletContext. Now current thread will sleep for 5 seconds & then set some attributes on ServletContext.

I found strange result. When I hit the servlet url from 2 browser windows., even though thread 1 had acquired the lock & was sleeping...thread2 also came inside synchronized block.

Thread 2 was not supposed to enter synchronized block right ?
If we want to protect session attributes we synchronize on HttpSession object. I agree with it.

I have one question - In the book its mentioned "The client could open a new browser window" page 199.

There are 2 ways to open new browser window which is not mentioned in the book

1A) open new browser window. Hit the servlet url, which you have coded for testing the session. now from the same browser window File->new window which again hits the same url (IE6)
2A) open 2 seperate browser windows & hit the same urls.

changes observered
For the first scenerio 1A - same session is present
For the second scenerio 2A - different session is present

Please let me know if I am wrong.
If I use a tab & hit the same url then I will be in same session right ?
